The game really is as simple as that. Regardless of how Rondo and KG play, if the 2/3 matchup is that absurdly lopsided, the Celtics can't win.

Ray and Pierce are hurt, and certainly can't e expected to play as well as Lebron and Wade even if healthy. But they have to be somewhere remotely in the same vicinity. Getting slaughtered like this isn't going to work.

Ray is done--on both sides of the ball. He won't improve.

No. I didn't say that. However, cutting most of the South would be a net benefit for the remainder of the Union. It's not going to happen and it's a bit of a silly conversation, but those states are a financial drain on the rest of the union. The opposite is true of the position you expressed. (This may or may not be true of Florida specifically. I am not familiar with the quality of their economic circumstances.)

Exactly what Doc always says - make/miss league. Celtics missed 10 FTs tonight. Their offense in the paint is terrible. LeBron and Wade made some tough shots today and Miller's threes in the first were big as well. Hard to win with 79 points. Refs were definitely below average, but the Celtics did not deserve to win this one. Still, the game was close enough that it still feels like the series is competitive.

I've lived in about 8 different states now, all over the country. They all suck, no matter what part you're in. Just be thankful we aren't Europe (lived in Germany for a few years too).

California gets .78 cents back for every dollar they pay in. NM and MS have the highest ratio, getting back $2 for every dollar they pay in.

It will be interesting to see how Doc manages Ray Allen's playing time going forward. He hasn't played well for a couple of games now and isn't even necessarily a sure thing at the line (shooting 65% in the playoffs coming into tonight). I am just wondering who can actually step up and fill in that role right now.

That second quarter was fantastic for the C's and it is a shame they couldn't find that rhythm in second half.

Florida was at $7,649 paid and $7,615 received (this matches my perception and reticence to lump Florida in with the rest of the South as a net-receiver.) Tonight was the first playoff game I actually stopped watching. After the third technical foul, it was apparent to me that the NBA was either out to make some God-awful and nonsensical statement that was especially curious given that the Heat are perhaps the most demonstrative team in the league, or that there was some other bias going on from the perspective of the officials. I'm told that the Celtics had a terrible second half, and I'm not really surprised, given the age and health issues, but I think many also ignore the effect that handing out technicals on a whim has on the players, particularly the team being targeted. By making those calls you are telling an emotional team in an emotional matchup to play like robots. If that's what these Celtics are going to be relegated to, I'm not going to support that system. Hopefully, Sterny will send another memo telling the refs to reverse course or suspend the refs responsible for this sham, but I'm not holding my breath.
