When the time comes, is Crawford going to be an upgrade over Nava?

Two run and counting mistake by the umpire.

What am I missing. Obviously gameday will not explain.

Exactly. And I suspect that all good Red Sox fans will be as accepting the next time such a call goes against the Red Sox

I actually feel bad about this. Not because it's unfair for the Tigers, screw them, but because I want to be able to complain when the umpires screw up the other way.

Is this a gift from BAPIP? Runs on a blown call from the umps?

Nope. Fister needs to make a better pitch.

That too ... although the blown pitch call against Aceves would not have ended the inning

Aviles swung and missed at strike three for the third out, but argued that the ball hit the ground before Avila caught it (no idea how he would know), and the 1st base ump overruled the homeplate ump and said it was foul.

Replay clearly shows that, not only did Aviles not even make contact with the pitch, but Avila caught it cleanly.

Then the Sox score three runs.

Edit: Laird, not Avila.

Is that the one centered on the medic? That was an incredible episode.

Sure is. This Sox team could use a dirtdog like that Cajun medic: Zydeco walk-up music, morphine for the outfield.

Okay, you know what, it was a blown call but the umpires aren't the ones that allowed four straight base hits after that. Don't blame it all on them, leyland.

The Aviles RBI is undeserved, but at some point it's Fister's fault for making shitty pitches. He easily could have given up those hits in the 3rd inning.

This is true. It just feels like when things this happen in favour of the Sox, it comes back on them twofold.

I prefer to blame their pitcher. It makes me feel better.

When Leyland gets animated it looks like they slowed down the camera when they filmed him, then sped it back up to full speed.

He came off the bag! Pedroia learns from the last game and keeps the tag on the runner.

Edit: Man, I'm having an off-day. Aviles keeps the tag on, not Pedroia.

Sure, and I'm sure there are some Tigers fans doing just that on a Tigers message board. All I'm saying is that it's easy to understand Leyland's anger and while it's also easy to chuckle from this end, we've all been guilty of reacting that way to similar situations.

The Pedro-Clemens game may be my favorite regular season game ever. Trot was my favorite player as a kid (shut up), I loved Pedro and I hated Roger, so it was perfect.

(also it was ump-aided, the Frye HBP hit the knob of his bat)

Ha ha. Trot won't shut up, so by the time they come back from the break, NESN will have missed the first five pitches.
