This team isn't losing to the Atlanta Hawks again this season.

Win, advance and get some rest.

I was nervous about this game, but McGrady is like elimination game lubricant. We will not lose this game.

Yup, KG doesn't need outside motivation. Who gets up for games on his own more than him?

But comments like these from the Hawks co-owner are like chicken soup -- might help/can't hurt:

"We don't get any calls, which I know everybody always hears," Gearon said, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "But I'll give you a stat. Last night, we are playing this old physical team. They are old. I know what happens when you play basketball, old guys foul. [Kevin] Garnett is the dirtiest guy in the league. We are playing Boston last night and they had two fouls the whole first half. We had five times that and we're athletic."

Hawks owner should think about why they assembled a team of playground basketball players like Josh Smith. C's don't committ as many fould because they are mostly veterans and disciplined, Hawks are young and stupid.

And he employs Zaza, who is widely regarded as one of the dirtiest players in the league.

Any word on Pierce's knee? I've been incredibly impressed with how much hop KG has, but this team needs Pierce to do quite a bit to be successful.

I remember a certian series in 2007 when the hawks got over 90 more FT's.

Time to finish this.

I was able to get face value balcony seats, last row, this morning on ticketmaster. They still had a lot of scattered singles available.

They have some doubles available, too.

Some very good seats.

Billy freaking Kennedy, for a knock-out game? Bad things are going to happen.

If Stern cared, which he doesnt, teams should be allowed to chose 3 refs that they simply do not want officiating their games in the playoffs, and I am sure that Kennedy would be at the top off the Boston list. And it would be an interesting concept because if 10 teams all had Joey Crawford on their list, isnt that saying something?

Can't wait to see dirty KG finish off the Hawks and shut up one of their doofus owners.

Oh, and buy tickets on StubHub. They suck marginally less than TicketMaster and tickets start at $50.

Pierce has a strained MCL. Doesn't that usually take about a month to heal? This is going to put a serious crimp in their title chances.

4-6 weeks for a grade 1, which I'm assuming Pierce has.

Pierce will be fine. He's played basketball like an old man since he was 25 anyway. He barely needs one leg to get his little stepback off.

Does Pierce risk tearing his MCL if he continues to play without letting it properly heal?

The one thing that gives me solace is that he's not under the care of the Red Sox' medical staff. Ray and Avery's health are even more important now.

Avery's injury is also worse than originally thought. Rotator cuff strain I believe.

I don't about other sports/levels, but this is exactly what happens before the high school soccer season. Every coach gets a list of everyone and puts an x next to three guys. Simple, effective, too forward-thinking for this league.

Need to be smart about Pierce. Probably have to use him sparingly, probably won't feel too hot after sitting on the bench...hope they use him as a decoy/spot-up shooter and just let Rondo loose. It has to be his team tonight.

Don't you know that those guys are appointed for life? They're appointed like that for a reason...you just can't have them subject to the vicissitudes of the masses.
Have you ever even READ the constitution?

Kennedy isn't going anywhere.

With a healthy Pierce and Avery Bradley (the way the playoffs started but sadly not possible now), I really thought this C's team had a legitimate shot at winning the title. An honest to goodness shot.

I dunno about that. But think they would have had a decent chance of comming out of the east.

Which is about 10,000 times better than I thought they would do this year, so hey. Right, I'll be happy with getting past Atlanta. Need to close this one out today, as there is a 110% chance Pierce or Avery gets cheapshotted if they go back to Atlanta(and a 0% that it would be called).

You gotta be kidding me. So this simple, effective solution works at the high school level, but amazingly the NBA can do it. The next time we have a thread where people are criticizing NBA refs and the NBAs effort to improve them I am going to be quoting this.

Don't you know that those guys are appointed for life? They're appointed like that for a reason...you just can't have them subject to the vicissitudes of the masses.

I know, I know how the system work those who are in Sterns back pocket stay on for a long time [talking about you Bavetta], but sadly I still like to dream about an NBA where the refs really get work based on how well they officiate as opposed to politics.
