Yea, Clay's ERA is over 8, but he has two wins and he'll get his third today.
WIN!

With Josh "Chamberlain" Reddick on the other side, this is truly a civil war.
"We'll fight them, sir, until hell freezes over and then, sir, we'll fight them on the ice."
May the army of Northern Fens be led by the greatest in-game tactician of all time, Robert E. V

Clay may be pitching for his job. I think he comes up big against an offense that is scoring less than 3 runs per game. Also, it's a night game, and we are 7-3 when the sun goes down. Calling my bookie now.
Closer to the truth than some may think. Clay hasn't exactly been dominating. With other options around the corner, Miller, Cook, Dice K, Clay should be hearing footsteps. Prove us all wrong tonight Clay, step up big.

Peter Gammons will join Don Orsillo in the booth on Monday night as the A's come to town to take on the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Jerry Remy is still under the weather and hopes for a quick return. First pitch is slated for just after 7 p.m. ET on NESN with pregame coverage starting at 5:30 p.m.
Nice....

Let's see if the lefty mashers that Ben got to balance this lineup can hit Milone a mile. A few XBH from Cody and Shop with men on base and this team will win.(If Clay doesn't suck today)
I, for one, am surprised that Clay to the bullpen hasn't been talked about. If he sucks again, why wouldn't they make him into an eighth inning guy and see if Cook can start?

They're at Fenway so hopefully they can get Eck to sit in the booth at some point before Remy's back.
I was hoping he'd be in the booth tonight but I guess he is off tonight. Gammo can be alright if he doesn't ramble too much, but he's no Eck.
Win tonight. And stop sucking, Clay.

I keep wondering why he has so much trouble hitting his spots. (Clay, not Gammo) I hope he gets whatever he had that he's lost back, and soon.I was hoping he'd be in the booth tonight but I guess he is off tonight. Gammo can be alright if he doesn't ramble too much, but he's no Eck.

Bobby Valentine took blame for not having more of a plan for injuries/bullpen issues. "I'm kicking myself for it," he said. "My fault.
John Tomase
Valentine expects Cook will pitch in relief if he doesn't opt out. Could also make spot start during stretch of 20 games in 20 days.
Tim Britton
Valentine also said he's thought about more backup plans after Bailey/Ellsbury injuries caught him a little off-guard earlier in the season.

What do we do if Buchholz gets roughed up tonight?
Phantom DL? Then send him down to the minors to get his stuff together?

What do we do if Buchholz gets roughed up tonight?
Nothing. Buchholz should get to make mistakes well into May before panic sets in. I'm looking for a gradual increase in velocity and greater success in keeping the fastball down. Buchholz can still be a good #3 starter without the changeup, provided he regains command of the fastball and cutter. The curve is back to its glory days, so he can throw a lot more of them.

It's a cue for action if this weak-hitting team roughs him up. I would put him in the bullpen and get Aaron Cook into the rotation. Not sure whom we can send down or unload. What do we do if Buchholz gets roughed up tonight?

With most of his troubles coming early I don't see that transitioning well to a relief role. It looks like his release point is a little lower than past years eventhough he's still generating decent movement. I hope he gets his form back. Tonight's a good place to start.

I was just checking how bad the Oakland offense is. Not only are they the lowest scoring team in the AL, they'd be the second lowest scoring team in the NL.

Now that he has seceded from the union by Cherington, don't we have to call him Jebediah Beauregard Reddick?

Evan Drellich
Said Youkilis before the game when asked about his health: "I'm in the lineup." Said Valentine: "Youk says he’s ready."

I don't think they need sage anymore, so I'll just go for good vibes for all.
Youk needs a bunch of those little piles of burning stuff on his body. My TKD instructor applied them to my back years ago. I forget why now...some little injury I recovered from. Of course he also gave me some awful stuff to drink. It contained a lot of alcohol, I can tell you that.
