Harper will hit a game-winning home run. Book it.
I believe you meant Matt Kemp

I believe you meant Matt Kemp

Oh, and this gem was pulled from the thread discussing Kemp's contract extension with the Dodgers.

There was no need to intentionally flip off the batting helmet like that when running into second. That was forced and an obvious attempt to try and show off. "Look how hard he runs!!" This kids a douche. Just wait. He will rape someone soon.

Or to be more MLB-centric:

Bonds 2004: .362 / .609 / .812 / 1.422

.609 OBP still makes my jaw drop to this day.
Well, if he was only IBB'd like 50 times instead of 120, it likely would've dipped below .600. (Of course, his uptick in SLG might've made up for it.)

Harper's gotta be the everyday CFer.
That was a nice catch, not sure he took the best route to the ball, though.

Yet, the starting pitching continues to be out of this world.
After 3 against the D-Backs coming up, the 3-game series this weekend against the Phillies will be unreal. Unless there is rain before hand, Nats will throw Stras-Gio-Zimmermann in the Take Back The Park campaign. I expect 3 games of big raucous crowds in DC, with the usual huge contingent of Phillies fans having to deal with more louder and bolder Nats fans than they are used to. I'll be at the Sunday nighter.

Nats coming back to earth with a four game losing streak, including 3 one-run games. H-Rod's meltdown was especially troubling because that was his MO last year and Nats thought (hoped?) it was behind him.

It is a big a week for the Nats and a chance to show that they are here to stay. I think one thing to consider given their recent 4 game losing streak is that this is still a very young team, Clippard blowing the lead on Thursday night might have been very deflating and then the next night that had to face Kershaw.
singapore: Buy yourself a Harper shirt it is going to be his first game. I am going to pick one up before I go on Wed.

Wingack: Yeah I intend to buy one at the park. But I gotta wear something to get there! Looking forward to Harper's first home game.
The last Friday night home game (the one where Detweiler tossed a shutout agains the Marlins) I stopped off at the bathroom as I was walking out from the game and there was a bit of a line I had to wait on. Behind me was a little boy and his father (who was decked out in a Nats jersey). The little boy goes "dad the Yankees are better than the Nationals right?" And the dad goes "Yeah, but we like to root for the Nationals too. This is where we live now so they can be our National League team." And the kid was like "Oh ok."
I kind of envision myself having the same conversation with my kid someday.

Is this the default Nats thread now?
Harper Plays Softball at the Washington Monument
This is the type of stuff I like about Harper. He wants to be famous and wants to have fun with his fame (very much like Shaq in that regard). It seems like a lot of ballplayers act like fame is a burden, want no part of it, and act like robots to that end. He's going to be great for the game.

If a Mod could change the title of that thread to 2012 Washington Nationals Thread, it would be much appreciated?

Heck, tough to run on any of those outfielders (Harper, Ankiel, Werth).

Jesus... Harper's throw just now was unreal.
Yeah he should have called out. Botched call by Jeff Nelson.

Harper goes 3-4, including a lead off double in the bottom of the 9th in a 4-3 game. Desmond comes through with a 2-out bomb to give the Nats a 5-4 win in walkoff fashion.
Just got back from the game. Harper was awesome today that the park sizzled anytime he got near a ball.
Desmond HR was huge obviously, hopefully it gets them off the snide.

Isn't the phrase "off the schneid"?
What was amazing about Harper was that it felt like the whole ballpark expected an outfield assist anytime he was near a ball, and those fans weren't wrong. On one of the plays the other day, he managed to turn what looked like a sure-fire double into the left corner into an ordinary RBI single.

Harper to bat 3rd tonight; moved up from the 7 hole where he was his previous games.
Wow, best hitter on the team normally hits 3rd. Hope he lights it up.
