I know that there is already a thread on Bergeron and the Selke, but I thought it might be nice to have a catch-all thread for everything else trophy related. So far, a number of the nominees for various trophies have been announced. Some of the bigger, and perhaps more interesting, trophies will have their nominees announced soon.

Calder: Adam Henrique, Gabriel Landeskog, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
Selke: David Backes, Patrice Bergeron, Pavel Datsyuk
Lady Byng: Brian Campbell, Jordan Eberle, Matt Moulson
Masterton: Daniel Alfredsson, Joffrey Lupul, Max Pacioretty
GM of the Year: Doug Armstrong (STL), David Poile (NSH), Dale Tallon (FLA)
Vezina: Henrik Lundqvist, Pekka Rinne, Jonathan Quick
Norris: Zdeno Chara, Erik Karlsson, Shea Weber
Hart: Henrik Lundqvist, Evgeni Malkin, Steven Stamkos
Jack Adams: Ken Hitchcock, Paul MacLean, John Tortorella
Foundation Award: Mike Fisher, John-Michael Liles, Matt Moulson

The Calder nominees seem pretty good to me. There was a chance Read might slip in over Henrique, but I have no problems with how those ended up. I have to figure that Landeskog is a lock there anyway.

All three Selke candidates seem very worth to me. To me, it's going to be a toss up between Backes and Bergeron.

I don't know enough about the candidates to accurately judge the Lady Byng. To be honest, it seems like the trophy is really just top point producers with the lowest PIMs, so we'll see.

I thought that Tomas Fleischmann would be a strong contender for the Masterton, but I guess not. I'm not really sure what Alfredsson did to get recognition here, either.

Three strong choices for GM in my opinion. No clue who the favorite will be there. I'm always impressed with what Poile does, but I can see legitimate arguments for all three.

I know this sounds very homerish, but I don't give a shit. What Chiarelli has done with the Bruins is nothing short of remarkable - he's managed to put together, ney maintain, a stanley cup contending club while keeping the salary cap in good shape and the average roster age below 28 and that's not even mentioning the amount of depth from top to bottom.

I don't know what Dale Tallon has done that is any better than what Chiarelli has been able to do. It's about time that Chiarelli gets recognized for his work in Boston.

GM of the Year (as well as te Jack Adams) is really code for "Crappy team a year ago that turns it around and makes the playoffs." That's why Tallon and Armstrong got nominated. Poile is a good GM, but I don't really know what he did this year to get the nod other than be extremely active at the deadline. They only had a fairly marginal regular season improvement from a year ago (5 points).

To be honest, as good as Chiarelli is, Bryan Murray would have been my choice for GM of the year.

This year's Florida Panthers: 197 G, 216 GA
Last year's Florida Panthers: 191 G, 222 GA

If Tallon wins, it would be an absolute joke. I agree with Bryan Murray and Tomas Fleischmann as choices to fill Tallon/Alfredsson's places. The rest seems to jibe pretty well.

I'd say Armstrong's decision to fire Davis Payne right away and bring in Hitchcock alone should get him nominated. Add in signing Elliot and a few key veteran pieces like Langenbrunner and Arnott, and he's had a great season.

No surprises here, but Lundqvist, Rinne, and Quick are the Vezina finalists. I like Quick, personally, but Lundqvist has to have exposure on his side.

Feel bad for Smith but you can't argue those choices, I think Quick deserves it given the paltry goal support he got all season.

Exposure shouldn't be an issue since the GM's vote on the Vezina, not the writers. Quick deserves it, and I think he gets it.

Is there a games played requiremend which is why Brian Elliott isn't a Vezina finalist? Only played 38 games, but most impressive save % and GA

It doesn't appear to have one, but I'd assume the GMs weight playing time in their voting calculus.

I think the Jennings Trophy also makes it easier for GMs to consider true #1 goalies for the Vezina, instead of teams that have a #1a and #1b situation, such as the Blues this year.

It's a win-win: Eliott and Halak get their recognition, but other goalies who did it for the long haul get their due as well.

No, but Elliott (36 starts) literally started half as many games as Pekka Rinne (72 starts). As good as his numbers were, the fact that he had half a workload hurt his cause. Considering that Elliott wasn't even considered the true starter entering the playoffs, and is only playing because Halak got hurt, did little to help. Halak put up some unreal numbers as well and the Blues are likely perceived as a system in which many goalies could look very, very good.

IMO, Chara wins that going away, and a shake of the head to the people who voted for Karlsson. He's a pretty good fourth forward, but he's not a defenseman yet.

Lundqvist, Malkin, Stamkos named Hart finalists.

If anyone can come up with an argument for why Lundqvist was more valuable to the Rangers than Quick was to the Kings, I'd love to hear it. Personally, I think Quick should have won this award but could understand giving it to Malkin. I find it ridiculous that another goalie beat him out and he wasn't even a top-3 vote getter.

Well in Lundqvist's defense, his games don't come on at 10PM.

Hitchcock, MacLean, and Tortorella are the Jack Adams finalists.

Fisher, Liles, and Moulson are the Foundation Award finalists. The most notable thing I learned through that press release is that Moulson and Quick are married to a set of sisters.

Yeah I'm with you - Quick even started 7 more games than Lundqvist.
