Reopening this one. Not sure why it was locked.

Nothing wrong with starting the game thread early.

Get here soon, Thursday!

I don't know what the deal this year is, but my God the draft snuck up FAST. Can't wait till Thursday.

Desire to see the draft is in inverse proportion to early success of the Red Sox

The toughest part of the wait is usually the last few weeks. We've had Bruins hockey to keep us busy.

Being a Boston fan is fucking awesome. The Sox suck dick and we still have 3 other teams to preoccupy our time with.

Anyone been to the draft? Happen to be 10 blocks away this week, and would like to go, but I hear you have to wait in line for tickets forever the night before.

Unless you fail it, you don't get in.

The place'll be packed with Jets fans!

I'm actually thinking about swinging by after work, before they open the doors, to check out the mouthbreathers firsthand. Here's to hoping they trade up to #3 for Coby Fleener.

I'd rather light myself on fire. I walked into the NFL Shop on 6th Avenue a few weeks ago, saw the trophy and did an about face. Yes, they won. No changing it. But what can be gained from seeing that up close and personal?

Jokes aside, the report on ESPN today is that they've been in contact with Trent Richardson and are thinking of trading into the Top 5 for him

This would be excellent! RB's simply aren't worth as much anymore, I don't care how good Richardson is. The Jets have so many holes to fill all over their roster, and trading up for an RB would be the worst mistake they could make.

A worse mistake than bringing Tebow in to mess with Sanchez' head?

I do agree, I wouldn't trade Assets to get any running back unless Barry Sanders (or maybe Bo) walks through that door again, and Richardson isn't in that class.

I would think the cost to get that Minny pick would be HUGE, and way not worth it

Depends on the cost of Minny to get back up to Jacksonville's spot, since they want to move down.

Keep in mind if the Jets don't make the playoffs ths year, Tanny is getting the boot. Trading next year's picks shouldn't be a concern to him.

I think that's 90% of it, and the other 10% is that if it's true that the owner really wanted to do Hard Knocks again, Tanny may think that making big splashes like trading up for a stud RB could help him appear to be on the same page with his boss.

I know what you're saying but I think Tanny might be able to survive this. There are a lot of statements in the local media suggesting more or less that he and Woody are BFFs

No. You should be mentally preparing for the Pats to take Weeden at 27 or 31. They'll then trade him to CLE or SEA for a collection of picks. I think Weeden comes off the board in the late 1st/early 2nd.

We'll likely trade 31, which is fine by me, but I hope that it returns a 2nd round pick before #48. There are a lot of interesting names coming off the board from 31 to 48 in all of the mock drafts I've seen and I'd love to have another pick in that range. I think there is a lot of value in the 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th round this year. To me, there seem to be a good number of DE/DT and CB prospects available in this range that would be able to come in and improve our defense. Getting back a future first is another option, and one I'm fine with, even if it is boring for us fans.

If you can't tell, I'm VERY excited for draft day.

Per league sources, Patriots have inquired with Seattle about what it would take to get to 12. Could be just info gathering. Could be more.

Can we start a Sosh BBTL Patriot's Draft Twitter Rumor and wait to see how long it takes to get picked up by a regional or national outlet? It would have to be something at least half believable like a trade up to #15 with Philly?

I've always wanted to be a "league source"

I very much hope this isnt true, I want him there as long as possible. Any GM that drafts Gholston, trades a boat load for Sanchez, and signs Bart Scott and Holmes to ridiculous deals really should be given a long tenure. And if he were to leave the Jets might really to a force in the AFC.

Just heard from someone that the Pats recently put Emil Igwenagu through a workout that included drills from several positions on both sides of the ball.

Probably something to watch Saturday.

So far, not much. They like Barron, but I was told they have "moved on" from him. Not sure if that means they did look into moving up to get him or not. Was told they like Harrison Smith, but wasn't told if/when they'd take him. A name we haven't heard tied to us too much to date that they apparently like a lot is Chandler Jones. A lesser name to keep an eye on later in the draft is Isaiah Pead, RB from Cincy.

I'll let you know if I hear anything else.

And just as I was about to submit this, I got a text saying Hightower and McClellin are 2 more guys they like in the 1st.

As always, thanks for passing this stuff along. Just my theory, but I am assuming they realized they would have to move up for him [based on how his stock has gone up] and just didnt think Barron was worth the price. Because he really seems like a perfect fit for us, versatile safety, productive playing big-time football for a coach Bill really respects.

I would love any 3 of these guys, basically any additions to the defense would be great, and if Bill finds front 7 guys that he thinks are 1st round worthy thats even better.

yea any of those three in the first round would be fine for me. Hightower surprises me a little bit because I had him pegged as more of a ILB guy. I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts on his coverage skills.

It does make sense however if they are planning on going back to the 3-4, while they have Spikes and Mayo they could possibly move Mayo outside. The same way it might make sense to draft a corner if they thought McCourty will play safety next year.

I think Hightower is the guy who's more likely to play outside if they had Spikes, Mayo and Hightower playing at the same time-he's 6'2", 265 and "long", and he blitzed/pass rushed pretty well at Alabama when they had him doing that.

Any franchise that makes drafting decisions based on their hopes to be on a reality TV show is absolute disgrace of a disaster.
