GameDay is ahead of my local FOX feed. "In play, no out" before I saw the single. Weird.

Unless that's a joke, did I miss McCarver's tenure as a uniformed member of the Red Sox?

Apparently he was in '74 and '75

I guess those empty red seats behind home that are shining brightly on national tv are a sign of the times. I would hate to have to quit making fun of the sea of empty seats that provide the background for all broadcasts from the Toilet.

Nor should he -- he needs to keep his fastball away from the center of the plate.

Giving Cano two buzzes was a sound investment.

Salty's defense under the microscope: he looked kinda klutzy on that passed ball.

Stay on the field for 120 games. Lavarnway's never done it and Shoppach would be exposed.

Also per Sprowl, Salty has been very unlucky w the bat so far.

Guess Fox doesn't know who's pitching for the MFY. In their Keys To The Game segment the note that "Ivan Nova needs help. 3-0 for the Yankees". Um, Tim, take a look at your notes and your score card. Garcia, Freddy.

According to Nick, a savior is on the way, the Byrdman of Chicago. I wonder if this is for Carpenter?!

Just read this...

2:23pm: The deal remains probable but timing issues remain, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter). The Cubs are likely to pay most of Byrd's remaining $6.5MM salary and Red Sox pitcher Michael Bowden is in play.
