There is a kid on my son's little league team that does this. Its's weird because he is right-handed but he does throw hard left-handed. His dad is a bit of an asshole so I am sure he made the kid do this when he was very small.
My experience is that its usually that the parents know nothing about baseball.

But what is the purpose of learning to throw lefty? To pitch?

Unless you don't want to put on the winning run.No reason to pitch to Ortiz here. None at all.

My son throws L and bats R. He's left handed for virtually everything except batting. It's weird.
And I definitely did not encourage it when he was young. It very much restricts his baseball possibilities because he's too small to play 1B and can't play anywhere else in the infield. He used to catch when he was younger but can't any more.

Adrian pisses me off in most pressure situations. How do you swing at ball 4 there??
Because it was a pretty good slider?

It was in pretty much the same spot that Sweeney got rung up on in the 7th.

Make him a switch hitter. That's what Lance Berkman's dad did; it worked out pretty well for him.My son throws L and bats R. He's left handed for virtually everything except batting. It's weird.

ESPN's gamecast has the strike one pitch to Ross about six inches outside. Was it?
And the same thing for strike 2. ??????
EDIT - And again for strike 3. All five pitches in that AB, according to espn's gamecast, were *WELL* off the plate. For those folks watching....were they?
