Cheating a bit since I didn't really make it to Fenway, but I had a front row seat to the flyover. Snapped a couple of shots from the Mass Ave bridge today of the F16 jets passing by. Looking forward to see some photos from the park.

I know Sitting Still was sitting (but not still) about 5 rows in front of me in section 25 (her lens obscured the field a couple of times), so I'm looking forward to her shots

... and, see, I was just about to come in and post that it's hardly worth my adding anything after seeing this one (admittedly by a NON-SoSHer!) on boston.com! (Direct link to image here in case they change the numbering, as they do on occasion!)

New arrangement for the retired numbers.

Posted Image
... sigh.

Posted Image
"Hey, Bowden, should we tell him Ace just sneezed on that hand?" "Nah, he'll find out..."

Posted Image
Not really a stellar shot, but I loved both Wake's and Tek's "I will not get snuffly, even if it means I have to bite through my cheeks" expressions, especially compared to the gleeful flagholder who's realized he has one of the best views in the park.

I liked the way the scoreboard themes drew on the Monster.

[ETA: but listing OBP and SLG *and* OPS makes me despair for the future of arithmetic]

Posted Image
I didn't like this. At all.

Posted Image
Kelly Shoppach redistributes the dirt around second base after his first steal. Gotta be tough when you get dirt everywhere and don't know the proper etiquette.

Posted Image
Cody Ross and Darnell McDonald celebrate.

Posted Image
"... oh yeah. Hey, Sweeney. Congrats."

Still adding shots... the gallery is here.

SS - outstanding as usual. I look forward to these threads each year. Pesky is looking older than ever. The love these ballplayers of every culture and age have for him speaks volumes. 'Tek and Wake, nicely done.

I'll be posting pics from today in this thread...figured yesterday's photos were not game day pics, so it was ok to post it in the 100th Anniversary thread. I took a ton today, so will need to go through them...but here's one to start:
Fenway's 100th Birthday

That is a SWEET shot! Where were you?

Shot from the "halfway to hell" marking on the Mass Ave bridge. I would have been better off being closer to the Cambridge side, they came in over the MIT Dome and crossed the bridge well towards that end. The F16s last week came more up the river so I went to the same place since my problem last week was that they were so close they were getting cut out of the frame (thus the shot above with just 3 in it).

edit: Wow SS some great stuff at your site. That shot of Ross(?) at the base of the Monster has a very old timey feel to it. And I like how you captured a bird in the shot with the planes.

Fun vantage point that you had, FenwayPaul!! That's what I love about this place - folks were everywhere, taking pics from all angles...we all "see" things differently and when you combine it all, in a thread like this...well, as a fan, I can't think of a more complete picture of a special, special day!!

That's awesome Steve, sorry I missed it and missed these photos until just now.

Found myself awake at 5am today so I hopped on the early early bus and took the T up to Revere Beach to check out the sand sculptures. This year's centerpiece "theme" sculpture commemerates the 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park. So I thought it would be another non-Fenway Fenway contribution to this thread. I cut it to 16x10 for my laptop screen, photo clicks through to bigger sizes.

That's such a fabulous picture!! Really nice!!

I finally repaired my malware-stricken laptop and have processed some pics from the first of the Sox/Yankees weekend. Was fun bumping into some SoSHers that evening - Candy, always a pleasure seeing you and your handsome hubby!! And Kelly - I'm hoping to see some pics from you for that night...I didn't get anything amazing from the Navy Seals...looking forward to seeing what you may have captured.

Enough talk...so, here are a few pics from my evening...the Navy Seals parachuted into Fenway as part of the Navy Week festivities:

And this last pic is the result of a little playing on my part...I started with a photo of the Navy airplane approaching the Park, before the paratroopers dropped out:

I've got to look again... I scanned them, and then can't remember if I was accurately unhappy with them or just tired and overcommitted.

Of course, i haven't posted *anything* in a while, so while I hide in the AC until closer to first pitch tonight, I'll pick a few!

The ladies line up early for Jacoby!

Also for Salty and Ortiz -- the other lines weren't nearly as lengthy

I think in total the crowd was smaller than last year -- not sure if it was the economy or the recent performance of the team. The weather didn't enter into the event until a good hour after the autograph session. Many players stayed a few minutes extra, including Punto and Beckett.
