I found that Canuck fan to be both reasonable and able to take a joke. Please do not link to that site again.

Anyone watching this Sharks/Blues game? I'll pick Perron to win it just because I will always pick Perron in anything Blues related.

Edit: Perron comes relatively close to ending it. Blues attacking strong right now. Niemi playing well.

The decision to get NBC to televise every game nationally might be the best thing Bettman has done or over will do.

I'm taking Steen for the game winner.

Langkow broke his stick on the PK with Hawks possession in the zone and immediately does the SoSH special, sprinting to the bench to change - Sharp doesn't look like he realizes it and launches a one-timer off the glass and out of play.

Wow. Boedkker very nearly scores off the draw.

Wowwww Seabrook ties it with 14.2 left

Great start to the postseason in terms of exciting games all around. Of the 7 games thus far, 6 have been within a goal in the final minute of regulation.

4 have gone to OT (including a 2OT and the current Phoenix/Chicago game).
1 ended as 1 goal difference in regulation.
1 game ended as a 2 goal difference including an empty netter.
1 game ended as a 2 goal difference.

He also tied for a game-high 4 blocked shots. His 45 shifts were the most in the game and thus surely all season.

Edit: Shattenkirk's previous high was 8 shots in 21:12 in a February 2012 game against Nashville so perhaps this isn't totally unprecedented for him.

Edit 2: Tangentially related through defensemen shots, but I just realized Byfuglien had more shots last year than anyone in the NHL had this season. Jesus.

Shattenkirk is a beast, theres a reason Paul Stastny's dad basically told the Avalanche front office to fuck off when they made that trade.

The Mike Smith Show indeed. He stopped 43-45, giving him the best SV% outside of Thomas and Holtby -- the only two goalies so far to allow fewer than two goals. Scores so far have been very similar with the one exception:

4-3
4-2, 4-2
3-2, 3-2, 3-2
1-0

Also, OEL was on pace to break 35 minutes if that went the full first OT period. Monster ice time for the 20-year-old.

For all the talk of supposed parity in other leagues, right now the NHL seems to be the closest to it... A ton of teams were in the hunt to the playoffs and weren't eliminated until the final week, and the playoff matchups have all been fairly even.

Hockey rules.
