Many happy thought occurred to me today. I'd like to share a couple.

1. I would MUCH rather be a Celtic fan then a Heat fan. Heat fans today are scared. Oh they don't ACT scared, they are full of bravado about "this game doesn't count" and "wait till the playoffs" but underneath it they are scared. I can't WAIT for the playoffs. I am fully confident that this team will bring it with all their heart and soul for as long as they are still breathing. Miami? Sure you have the possibility that they start rolling over teams, play their best, don't choke away the final minutes of a crucial game, and maybe win a championship. Then all the haters can say "only 5 more till you reach your goal." OR they may just get knocked off by a bunch of old timers from Boston and lose in the second round (I'm not optimistic enough to think they lose in round 1.) It's lose/don't lose as much. For the Celtics.......I can't wait.

2. We need someone to step up tonight. Clearly we spent a lot of energy last night and Atlanta has sat around for 3 days without a game. That being said I could definitely see us carry some of our excitement over and win this game, I just think someone is going to have to carry us. It could be a bench player giving us big minutes, or maybe the Captain has it in him tonight to do it all but someone is going to need to have a huge game for us to get the win. My vote is Ray.

3. I like starting game threads. A lot. I'm going to be on the road starting Saturday for a week so I hope that involves using my phone to start some threads from NYC.

Go Green 18.

The Hawks used to give the Celtics fits with their athleticism, but they have aged a little. The Celtics, on the other hand, have looked ageless over the last few games. Can the Celts keep it up for another game without a letdown?

Yes.

This is one of the games that we must win in order to guarantee home court advantage in the first round. We need to match (or exceed) the won-loss records of at least two of the three teams in front of us (i.e., Atlanta, Orlando or Indiana).

A win in this game would tie the Celtics with the Hawks for home court in the playoffs and would also give them the tie breaker since we beat them earlier this year in Atlanta.

Hey Mr. Levenson, an NHL team can co-exist with an NBA team quite nicely. You suck as an owner.

Let's give Zsa Zsa one in the kisser. Figuratively, of course.

Washburn is reporting that Allen will not play tonight due to ankle issues and that Pietrus will be available to play.

Allen's ankle worries me greatly. Why not just rest him until he is 100% seeing as Bradley has been playing great of late.

If its true about Allen's ankle, maybe they need to rest him for another 10 days and then just have him play the last couple games. They need him healthy or close to it for the playoffs.

We need Allen to get healthy, I just hope this game tonight IS being cautious and not anything serious.

On a more short term note this changes my pick for tonight. I'm a gonna say Paul.

Win tonight, then pick one of the next three games to rest the starters.

Yup, at least they are showing a little hustle here but they are going to need a lot more.

Celtic jumpshooting is amazingly good. Nobody has a post-game, their best inside players are both 6'1, and yet their most basic offensive skill is off the chart.

Seriously the shooting lately is unreal. It can't stay at this pace but it makes it tough to hold them down long when they are hitting shots like this.

Has any team had more forgettable winning seasons than the Hawks? They won 53 games two years ago, had 3 50+ win seasons in the 1990s, 4 50+ win seasons in the 1980s and a 50 win season in 1979-80. Aside from the Dominque years I couldn't tell you much about them. Since moving from St. Louis 44 years ago they have been little more than NBA cannon-fodder.

Dwight Howard is a lousy talent evaluator.

This is certainly true, but His Babyness has hung up some rather large numbers lately.

Oooooo too many passes on that last drive but I'll take that quarter after a rough start. This team does not look to be taking a night off after the big win.

Nice response after falling down by 9 early. Ugly final possession though. Should have gotten a shot off there.

Question. When the team says after the game that the Miami game is just another game and they didn't take it any more serious then any other game, how true do you think that is? I guess my options would be
A. Complete lie, behind closed doors they talk about what the Miami game means.
B. They don't say it directly but they play differently because they all know what it means.
C. Some guys approach it the same (KG) and don't let guys talk about it but Rondo and some of the other guys approach the game totally differently.

Imagine my surprise when I looked at his line: 2 double-digit rebounding games all season long before April, but 5 out of 6 games in this month. Is our Big Baby all grown up?

I didn't look up his stats but I feel like he has done this before. In streaks, like when KG was injured, he can be great. Still I'm so happy to have Bass instead. I like the Baby era, but that trade was a steal.

With Allen out, I guess KG felt like he needed to pick up the slack.

Baby's a pretty good player, he proved his utility here and had some magical playoff moments on the big stage. All that said, I'd much rather have Bass.

Avery Bradley looked absolutely terrible in the 2nd quarter. He had a lot of sloppy dribbling and near-turnovers in addition to the actual turnovers.
