The best time of the year is upon us. The puck drops tonight on the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

1. New York Rangers vs. 8. Ottawa Senators
3. Florida Panthers vs. 6. New Jersey Devils
4. Pittsburgh Penguins vs. 5. Philadelphia Flyers

JR weighs in:

I think it's unbelievable. Well, Pittsburgh's untouchable, I mean, let's just get that straight, they're untouchable, because if you say something bad about them, they're gonna complain, they're gonna whine, they're gonna revolt against you, the fans they're gonna bitch slap you all over Twitter, they're gonna attack you, so you know God help everybody if you say anything negative about the Pittsburgh Penguins, they're like the Almighty. I think they're a phenomenal team, I love watching their team, I love watching Malkin and Crosby and all them, but you can't say anything bad about them and not get backlash of complaining from those camps. I wish they would just go play and we can all have fun watching them and I think they have a chance to win the cup. I wouldn't have apologized. I don't know if I would have said exactly what Mike Milbury said, but he did, and he had to apologize, I don't know if I could if I believed it. That's just me, but Mike does things his way, and I don't understand why John Tortorella, why he got fined, that's his opinion...

I can't wait for this series.

I wonder what the lettering on the arm of Crosby's t-shirt stands for (pregame shot of lockerroom).

Well that was quick. Dominant effort so far by the Pens, and that was well placed by Crosby.

That replay just displayed that Sidney Crosby may have a jello brain, but he still possesses some crazy hockey skills.

Looks like they blew it for the call but actually decided to get it right. Annoying that the whistle blew but better than a wrong call.

Ah, yes. Philly playoff goaltending.

Ok, maybe Bryz couldn't have gotten that one.

Wow what a play by Staal. Flyers need to start hitting. And getting a couple saves.

Brutal "backcheck" by Jagr

What a play by Staal? What a fucking amazing pass by Letang to Staal to begin it all. Blind backhand spin around pass right up the middle in his own zone, right on Staal's tape. SIck.

To be fair if a Flyers d-man pinches in the middle, Letang is a goat for a blind backhand pass up the middle to Bourdon's tape leading to a goal.

He looked before making the pass, quick peek over the shoulder. Wasn't totally blind.

And there's our first Doc Emrick misidentification of the playoffs!

I also really don't get the Doc Emrick love, he is getting worse and worse every year. Give me Gary Thorne or Steve Levy, or give me death.

Do not, however, give me hockey on ESPN.

Thorne, Clement and Davidson was the best ESPN crew. Too bad Thorne is still with ESPN and only does the Frozen Four, he calls a great hockey game.

Nice job by the fans in the first - the arena is very quiet, too quiet a lot of nights, but tonight it sounded like vintage Igloo. Maybe Sideshow Bob calling them out for how easy the CEC is to play in got them fired up finally.
