One year ago at this time, I started my first Bruins game thread of the season. Some might say the hometown team was so inspired by that thread that they won two games in a row, and allowed me to finish out the regular season portion of the game threads. Some might say that the game thread I started actually compelled the Bruins to their first Stanley Cup championship in 39 years.

Would those people be worth taking seriously? Of course not. But why mess with a good thing?

A friend works at a clinic for the homeless. A patient once described to her the process of drinking Listerine to get drunk as,"Drink some, puke it into the bottle, drink that, puke again, drink again, puke again, etc., etc. until all the Listerine and sick is consumed."

I've got 4 more days before I get back on the sober wagon for the playoffs like last year, unfortunately I have $9 to get me through to next Friday so I can't even really go load up before the final game hits. I think I have an unopened bottle of Absolut Boston somewhere around here though, so if things get really desperate I have an outlet...

From a quick glance, I believe these are the longest streaks:
- TheShynessClinic - 16 games (11/1/11 - 12/6/11)
- Titoschew - 8 games (12/10/11 - 12/31/11)
- Me - 7 games (3/24/12 - 4/3/12)

The special award for unluckiest thread starter goes to Spaulding Smails, who started the 12/8/11 thread, which was the loss in between TSC's and Titoschew's streaks.

I'm in favor of TSC starting the playoff opener, and the next 15 games after that until a Cup is raised.

If I didn't live in Western MA and had a gas tank currently at 1/4 tank, I'd be likely to take you up on your offer. Unfortunately when you're told your old car needs $2,000 in repairs and you forgot about a bill when calculating what you can put down as a down payment for a new car, you gotta live with the consequences.

This always bothers me. I cannot do the number-> player association in hockey. I think its because of all of the movement, rather than shots that are more stable in football/basketball/baseball. I could probably give you the numbers of 7 Bruins if asked.

This is clearly the real big ticket event today.

Though I do agree with PSK on the golf front. Few things warm my cockles more than seeing the Masters ads during March Madness.

I will pick up second in the unlikely event that TSC doesn't bring us back to back Cups on the wings of a 16-0 postseason.

Playing golf on a nice day while downing a few cold ones is a great time (not that I have any sort of game whatsoever). Watching golf on TV is about as exciting as... Well there is no comparison because golf on TV is the most dull thing in existence.

Even playing golf stinks. Every time I hear someone defend playing it they're whole argument is "but it's so nice to be outside, walking, enjoying the scenery."

Well la di dah. I can do that without the need for expensive clubs and without the frustration of the actual golf.

That about sums up my opinion. A bad day of golf is better than a good day of work, and being out there on a nice day is downright sublime even if you're playing like shit.

I actually enjoy watching golf on TV, especially on a lazy Sunday afternoon when I can half nap and half pay attention. Watching what these guys can do on a course is impressive as hell.
