If it wouldn't be a waste to limit him to the sort of one-inning regimen that defines the job, I would have no problem with Aceves as our closer until Bailey comes back.
Keep thinking the same thing. Someone in the bullpen just needs to piss him off before every appearance.

I think Bobby V is up to the challenge of jerking him around every single day.

One of the nice things about him is I think he could be used non-traditionally. Not saying all the way to Goose Gossage, but being able to get 4,5,6 out saves and get Melancon into some seventh innings is an interesting option too.
Interesting thought for discussion.

Catchers know how to take an HBP right on the elbow-protector.

In the old days, it was called "mailing it in". Not really paying attention.sox writers are struggling. britton wrote that repko is in pawtucket today, silverman tweets melancon is in for the save.

The only difference is that in the old days people didn't have the ability to watch the MASN broadcast and know they were wrong.

Oh, the Nats announcers say it's a bad play. Those with eyes on the game, whazzup?

I think this is a very, very intriguing idea.

Aceves pick up another vulture win.
Coming into a tie game, pitching a 123 inning and your team scores on the next frame is not a vulture win.

Yeah, but Aceves is an angry man on an angry, angry mission. Not to Burma, either. To Anger Wat, which is like two nation-states over.
And what does he plan to do there -- only to collect all the wins those feckless, undeserving louts in the starting rotation allow to slip through their guaranteed-contract fingers.

Question: Does Gamethread protocol apply if the Sox won the last ST game?
No I don't think so.
I nominate our new Dope Sprowl to open the season.

I second the nomination. Go Sprowl! Start a winning streak right out of the box.

I'm not a big game threader, so I will gladly support the will of the game threaders.

I thought so myself. And I third the nomination.
Edit to clarify: I thought that it did not apply.
