Has a single HBP ever been the difference between a no-no and perfect game?

Getting smacked down by Kyle Lohse. Now that is how to open a stadium in style.

The baseball stadium did not open with a bang, but a whimper (and a garish home run monument)..

That would be awesome. Imagine if they did that at Hadlock with a lobster tank?

Now will someone please homer so I can see that monstrosity monstrositate itself?

Another extreme fucking pitchers park. Argh.

I thought I heard during the Yankees games there that balls fly out if you hit them right. Meanwhile, the WS champs are "doing all the little things" and winning by "playing the game the right way." Tee hee.

Is the roof open or closed today? How the park caters to hitters/pitchers could depend on if the roof is open or closed no?

Stanton crushed two pitches and the park said "Nope."

Ben Cafardo @Ben_ESPN

Former Marlin and 2007 World Series MVP for the Red Sox Mike Lowell just stopped by the SNB booth, much to his former skipper Tito's delight

Lowell!

Literally my least favorite (Edit) good Redsox of this generation. I have no idea why, he just always bothered me.

I couldn't disagree more. He is good-looking, intelligent, played well and smart, loves his wife, gives and gives and gives to the community. If he hadn't been so slow, he'd be more or less perfect.

Every Marlin that gets on base is talking about the park and whatever wind seems to be knocking down balls.

Tell me it's not so they could have the world series champion play in the shiny new ballpark.

I'm guessing three reasons:

1) World Series champs
2) New ballpark
3) Already in Florida which makes it feasible without terrible travel

No more regular season openers in Japan, followed by spring training games, followed by ONE game on opening night. It's ridiculous.

Defending champs should open the season at home in the afternoon, then a 7pm and 10 pm west coast game.

I really enjoyed Jose Feliciano's rendition of the national anthem. Subdued and soulful. Unlike the park. Which I also like. Found it to be a funny juxtaposition

White Sox are going into the season with no set closer and Thornton, Reed, Crain, Santiago, and Jones. There is a lot of electricity in those arms (watched Jones pitch the other night, DEAR LORD).

Santana looked pretty good for the Mets today, considering how long it's been since pitching in a real game - offspeed stuff was solid (although his FB is topping out at 89ish) until tiring & losing his control in the 5th

5 IP, 0R, 2H, 2BB (both with 2 outs in the 5th), 5k's

Manny Acta just intentionally walked Jose Bautista with 2 outs and runners on first and second in the top of the 12th inning.
