If you don't understand the flat brim with the sticker, google it. It's actually a pretty logical reason for why people do that.

Outside of one guy complaining that it hit his eyelashes I can't find a valid reason. Can you enlighten us?

Okay.

Once you bend the brim, you can't really bend it back. So if you bend it, it no longer looks new. New hat means you're looking clean. Really it's that simple.

As for the sticker, it was hit upon -- the sticker leaves a little residue where dirt can collect; keeping the sticker on there keeps that from happening, ergo keeping it clean that way too.

I always thought it was because players wear championship clinching hats with stickers and straight brims during celebrations. And that look started a trend.

Posted Image

ps - googled "championship hat locker room" and this came out. Maybe Dirk isn't the best depiction for my "trendy athlete" argument.

I remember in the 90's when it was a trend for a while to keep the Diamond Collection tag hanging on the hat. I assume the logic was the same; so that it looked like a new hat. I thought it looked equally stupid.

I thought it was so that you could return it to the store and get your money back, like leaving the tag on a jacket or something.

Nah. It's the same reason why people clean their Dunks -- if it looks new, it looks like you have money to spend on new things, your shit looks clean, etc.

I think those big block letter hats are the "Official 2012 NFL Draft" cap. I think we'll get some more wearable styles once we get to May. They want to milk the first run, draft TV coverage, and players wearing them hoping we'll buy the crap before they roll out ones we'd actually wear in public.

I have this same jersey in my office right now(obviously not in the Seahawks colors but a sample from my Nike rep). The material is much, much different from the Reebok's. The collar is made of their Flywire technology.

Titans jersey looks tweaked around the shoulder area, although that could just be the angle of the shot.

Broncos wearing orange.

Apparently this was the rumored uniform (turned out to be a hoax):

So I'm grateful.

edit--apparently this hoax happened in 2010. But it was the first thing that came up when I googled "nike patriots uniform" and I nearly shat a brick.

They are currently building themselves into a legendary franchise with their current ones that they've worn to kick the shit out of the league over the past decade.

12 years of dominance isn't legendary. And they've altered the unis three times since Kraft took over the franchise anyway. Don't. Fear. Change.
Edit - I actually think the Krafts only changed them twice after buying the team from Orthwein.

It makes me happy to think of some Nike design team sketching the Colts, Chiefs, Jets, Browns uniforms with tears of sadness rolling down their cheeks.

They also didn't change the fonts of the numbers into a single Nike font, which is something they do in soccer constantly.

12 years of dominance is pretty legendary for this club.

The last change they made was in 2000. Again, there's no reason to change from what they've worn during the BB era, one of the most dominant in NFL history.

I don't fear change. But I see no need for it for this franchise.

It's smart for Nike to not change them. People will buy the new Nike jersey's to have one with a swoosh. Then Nike will spend the next five years introducing various levels of alternate jerseys, pro combat for certain teams, and then changing the main jersey in some substantial fashion, all which are designed to get Joe DiehardFan to purchase 4-5 Brady jersey's over the next several years.

If they change all of them now, no one will buy the old one with a Nike logo.

You really think this will happen? Why would I need a Nike Brady jersey if the Reebok Brady jersey looks 99% identical? I'd have been much more likely to buy a new jersey if something was different, even if it was the piping or something like that. Nike could still then introduce alternates / pro combat / whatever over the next 5 years to get more jersey sales. But I can't imagine a significantly higher than normal number of jerseys being purchased over the next few months. Maybe I'm wrong though and don't appreciate what the Swoosh means to people?

Love the helmet. Don't like the grey because there's little difference between that and white. Hate the numbers and the shoulder area. The jerseys, in close ups I saw on a blog, look almost like leather (they have that sheen to them). Are they all like that? I guess overall my reaction is they could have been worse.
