I almost went to school there. Pretty campus...sorry to see they couldn't finish the comeback.Stonehill's comeback falls short. Valiant effort, but W.Wash hit their FT's in the final minute and made a game-sealing steal with :13 left.
Great season for the Chieftains.

It's what they do. When prayers are answered at 50%, it ain't too bad of a plan.
Not really, most of their threes were looks from just beyond the line, not 30 feet. The percentage is anomalous, but not their approach of good ball movement producing open threes. That last possession? No.
EDIT - If people think that last possession was representative of their style of play, I don't know what to say.

They've shot quite a few from 25-28 feet tonight, though I am not knocking their style and the ball movement. It's like watching Hickory High. Seriously. It works for them. Not really, most of their threes were looks from just beyond the line, not 30 feet. The percentage is anomalous, but not their approach of good ball movement producing open threes. Bill Russell needs to publish a tutorial for shot blockers, because none of these clowns, at any level, understand that you don't need to put every ball into the 10th row.
Absolutely. More guys need to learn to block shots with their left hand as well. Assuming your opponent is right-handed, you add about a foot to your reach more often than not if you stretch for the block with your left hand. Not sure why more guys don't do it that way.

That's true.
And easy for me to say, I guess, although if I was a prolific shot blocker I suspect I wouldn't feel the need to assert my manhood on every attempt (only a few). They are fun to watch, I'll say that.
Good point. Sometimes great shot blockers need to absolutely reject a shot every now and then. Definitely increases the intimidation factor. But not every time.

Would have been nice to see them on CBS, but a solid effort anyway.Stonehill's comeback falls short. Valiant effort, but W.Wash hit their FT's in the final minute and made a game-sealing steal with :13 left. Final score 71-66.

I refuse to stop calling them Chieftains too. I was president of the student alumni association when the name was being changed. Shovelmakers won the student vote but the board wouldn't go with it. I guess skyhawks isn't terrible but they should have just left it alone.

Hey, remember when the Big 10 was the best conference in the country and the Big East was overrated? A Cincy win tonight might even shut Doug Gottlieb up.]
edit: beaten to the punch!
You know, I didn't even notice that the first three games tonight were Big East vs. Big Ten. Haha.
I will say that without Melo, either Sullinger or Gates will just manhandle SU down low on Saturday. SU has athletic bigs, but nobody (besides Melo) that is that wide or strong. They're going to get pushed all over the floor by either of those guys.

Yep. I'm having a hard time seeing them get past either team. They are going to need to run and be very efficient on offense to win, and hope Gates/Sullinger gets into foul trouble quickly. Need to have Fair and Waiters driving the lane a ton.You know, I didn't even notice that the first three games tonight were Big East vs. Big Ten. Haha.
