Failure to win the WS falls on you br3 for breaking protocol.

Who is pitching? Buchholz is pitching in the B game. So Padilla and?

I thought about that before creating the thread, but thought ST was fair game. Looks like it's been done at least once already this spring. If not, I'll accept the blame in 7 months.

There is a red sox radio broadcast and for those of you with access, it is also on YES.

Can't wait to hear what Michael Kay has to say about the collapse.

At least with Kay it's A: to be expected and B: understandable. We'd do the same to the Yanks. It's when the Orioles announcers do it that I get annoyed.

Why is Buchholz pitching in the B intrasquad game instead of this one?

I'd have to assume they're wanting to see how Doubront fares against higher level hitters since he's being seriously considered for the 5th spot in the rotation.

That I can agree with, but Buchholz is coming off a chronic back injury and is penciled into the 3 spot, so it's also important to evaluate him better.

Maybe they want Buchholz to get some work against a weaker lineup to build his confidence before throwing him out there against an MLB-caliber lineup?

Actually it could be that they want to keep him going on 3 day's of rest like they are doing with Beckett to build up arm strength. Buchholz last pitched on Friday. This is something new this year. I'm not sure if Lester is on it too.

That seems like the most likely scenario.

I don't know if this is what Valentine is thinking, but I know Joe Maddon has his normal starting pitchers pitch B games quite frequently when the A game is against a divisional rival. The thinking is that they want to limit the hitters' exposure to the guys they know will be in the rotation. Guys like Price and Shields end up pitching in the B game pretty much whenever their turn comes against the Sox or Yankees.

Schilling did the same thing in 2004. When we played divisional oponents in the spring he pitched in the B game. He wanted to limit their batters from seeing what he threw and how he would approach them.

MLBN is suppposedly picking up the YES feed. If it's blacked out in MA for some reason not even a lawyer can understand, I shall scream. I've caught more than one Ys b'cast this spring, and was blessed by the absence of M. Kay. Hope the trend continues.

For Doubront, Bowden, Padilla and Tazawa, this is a high-stakes game, and who better to face than the Yankees for pitchers vying for the last starting position.

I think Doubront's stuff gives him the highest ceiling, but Aceves has pitched very well so far. A starting rotation of Lester-Bard-Buchholz-Aceves-Beckett is formidable. Beckett is having the worst spring so far.

At least Felix is slow in his delivery, so by the time he throws his next pitch I've nearly forgotten how iffy his command is today.

Doubront stuck with the fastball, and didn't hit his spots perfectly, but velocity looks good for mid-March.
