First pitch at 7:05pm. NESN and MLB.tv have it.

Bard and Ace each going 3 innings. Should be fun.

EDIT: Thanks! Need coffee.

I'm really hoping Iglesias and Middlebrooks get into the game. Middlebrooks made a pretty good defensive play when he was brought in late in the game yesterday.

I hate Saturday night games. Spring training or no, it's a crime.

7 night games in spring training is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.

Actually really interested in seeing Mortensen after what he did in his first outing.

I'm excited as well. I haven't watched him play in a game since last Spring Training.

Pretty cool seeing everyone off the Red Sox bench trying to get a glimpse of Bard.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Bard was are best starter this year.

He has the best pure stuff. Beckett is a roller coaster, Lester is getting worse not better, Buchholz is now a groundballer who has no dominance and never had a K/BB over 2.0.

His slider is his second best pitch so I'd say yeah.

Decent first inning from Bard. Looks like he was typically sitting at 96 mph on his fastball, he threw one at 97, one at 94 and one at 92 which I'm pretty sure was a fastball but it's hard to tell considering his changeup is 89-91 mph. The hitters looked uncomfortable and off-balance facing him. None of them made good contact.

Iglesias would be a good guy to hit-and-run with. He makes contact more than Pedroia.

That strike out looking call on Ellsbury was a good 3 inches outside.

Lately yes. When he first came up his fastball was 93-94. In 2009 his average velocity was 93.

Actually, I think pitchers get ahead of Youk too often because he almost never swings at the first pitch. (Based on memory; I could of course be very wrong.)

I wonder how hard it is for him to get comfortable with it, even with a very abbreviated windup

Punto is a sure-handed and confident fielder. I'm starting to come around on his signing, and besides, 1.75m is dirt cheap for a starting shortstop.

I agree it looks that way. But there is still a fundamental difference between starting your motion facing home versus facing third. He'll probably be fine, it's just something I think about late at night.

Or he should steal Aviles' bat
