Unbelievable:#Mets tell reporters Ike Davis has non-issue lung infection. Terry Collins & Ike tell team site he probably has Valley Fever.

C. J. Nitkowski who has been out of baseball since 2005 signs with the Mets. He of the career ERA of 5.37 in 479 innings. What Steve Ontiveros and Paul Byrd weren't available?

Santan to the DL with ankle issues: http://newyork.mets....ws_nym&c_id=nym
In other news, I hope the no-hitter was worth it, because since throwing 134 pitches in that game he is 3-5 with a tidy 6.54 ERA, and a .305 BAA.

RA Dickey has also turned back into a pumpkin in recent weeks, he even gave up 2 runs in the 9th today in a rare (desperation) relief appearance.

He came back today and was shelled even worse, 8 ER in 1.1 IP.

Santana was the first Met pitcher to throw a no hitter in their 50 year existence. He's also the first pitcher in history to throw up 5+ earned runs in 5 (or 6) consecutive games IIRC. I remember the Met boards talking about it. Only the Mets would have an ace who makes history 2 times, the worst way after the best way, only to be hurt again. We aren't allowed to have a healthy ace, long term, or stud RF, after Strawberry and Gooden. Bleh.
