I've never before said this non-ironically:

"J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!"

In this case, the appropriate chant is "Go Jets Go"

If you wanted the B's to play Ottawa in the first round, this probably helps in a strange way. Buffalo and Washington are getting perilously close to grabbing the 7 and 8 seeds.

One of Buffalo or Washington is going to lose tomorrow, though, as they play each other. Huge playoff implications. One of BUF/WAS will be either 3 or 4 points back of Ottawa with just 5 games remaining at the end of tomorrow and neither team gets a crack at the Sens before the season ends.

Pittsburgh is playing with 5 forwards on their power play. You don't see that too often.

They're also taking it up the ass from the Islanders.

Might not be the worst thing in the world for the Rags to be the #1 seed. That is, as long as Ottawa can stay ahead of Buffalo.

I agree. If they get by Buffalo, they'll ehave either Pittsburgh, Philly, or New Jersey. Very tough matchups.

After this season, I would give Brodeur's and Elias' money to Parise and some young goalie with upside. Devils have to turn the page.

Welp, Brodeur is the only reason we got points tonight so... probably should wait on that.

Elias has to come back because he is the heart and soul of this team.

Schneider with a 43 save shutout over Colorado.

Huge loss for the Avs... they are now 2 points out of a playoff seed but have played 2/3 games more than the other contenders.

3. *Dallas - 89 pts - 5 GL
7. *San Jose - 88 pts - 6 GL
8. *Los Angeles - 88 pts - 5 GL
9. *Phoenix - 87 pts - 5 GL
10. Colorado - 86 pts - 3 GL

* - Pacific Division team.

San Jose's schedule will likely go a long way towards determining how the Western Conference will shape up. The Sharks' remaining schedule is: @PHO, DAL, @DAL, @LAK, LAK. None of the other four teams (DAL, LAK, PHO, COL) play each other.

I'm somewhat close to starting a "what's wrong with the Red Wings?" thread. The losing continues, this time to Allen York and the CBJ's.

Can it get any worse for Leafs? Yes. Gustavsson hurt in warm up.

Hey hey I didn't say Leafs. The Leafs are the October-December version. The Geafs are the one that hasn't made the playoffs since they traded for Brian Leetch and Ron Francis.

I don't know why anyone would do that anyway. The NHL playoffs are so fucking hard I wouldn't predict any team as the winner until it's the clinching game and someone is winning by 3+ goals.

He didn't play last year and we didn't make the playoffs anyway so that makes no sense

And Ponikarovsky ended up getting the goal, Bryce gets the assist. The drought continues.

Sorry, dating back to 09-10 and those playoffs. I simply looked at game logs and didn't notice that there was no 10-11 tab since he didn't play. Forgot about that.

Florida can only match the B's loser point. Minnesota tied it up at 2 with 30 seconds left in regulation, then Koivu won it 15 seconds into OT.

Mike Smith pitches a shutout and Vrbata scores #31 and #32 on the year to give Phoenix a gigantic 2-0 win over San Jose.

Edit: Raise you hand if you thought Mike Smith would be 4th in wins and shutouts while sixth in SV%. What a year he's having.

Of note, Ray Whitney's next point will be his 1,000th.

Watching the Blue Jackets/Panthers game right now and the Columbus announcers just mentioned that Jeff Carter is expected to miss the rest of the regular season with an ankle injury. Big hit to the Kings.

Winnipeg wins 4-3 in OT. Their playoff hopes continue to hang by a nail.

Florida loses in regulation to Columbus. The Panthers are now just 4 points up on Washington while both teams have four games remaining. Washington has the ROW edge and they play each other once (in Washington). That division may not be over yet.

Washington: MTL, @TB, FLA, @NYR
Florida: @DET, WPG, @WAS, CAR

If Washington can take 3 of 4 (including the Florida game) and Florida loses in Detroit and drops one to either Winnipeg or Carolina, Caps will take the division. If the Caps win out and Florida loses to Detroit, Winnipeg, or Carolina, the Caps could take the Southeast.

The Preds win a big game in Detroit in what may well be a preview of a first round series. The win jumps them from one point back of Detroit to one point ahead, swinging home ice advantage at the moment. Radulov tallied a goal and assist tonight giving him 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) in as many games.

The 4-5 matchups in both conferences could be intense. Nashville-Detroit and Pittsburgh-Philadelphia sounds like some great hockey.

Buffalo falls to Pittsburgh, dropping them back down to 9th -- behind Washington due to the ROW tiebreaker. Both teams have 86 points and 4 games remaining.

Landeskog has two points so far tonight giving him 51 on the season. RNH has one point, giving him 50. I think Landeskog is the favorite and will win the Calder, but the only way RNH has a chance is if he takes the rookie scoring title (despite playing fewer games). Henrique also has 50.

Nicklas Backstrom is returning to the Caps tonight after being out since January 3. He has missed 40 consecutive games since the injury. Coincidentally, his return will be against Montreal and Rene Bourque, the player who injured him.

This will be Dale Hunter's second game with Ovechkin, Backstrom, and Green all in the lineup. The first one was the game in which Backstrom was injured.

Buffalo loses to Toronto in regulation, a result which saddens both sets of fans. Meanwhile, Washington beats Montreal in a shootout to strengthen their grip on the eighth spot - up 2 with 3 to play and a commanding lead in ROW.

David Clarkson pots his 30th goal.

Clarkson's been a pleasant surprise this year. Turned into a real sharpshooter. I also think the trades for Ponikarovsky and Zidlicky have really helped down the stretch and Zajic's back as well. The Devils are interesting heading into the playoffs (20 times in 22 seasons...not too shabby.)

Pascal Dupuis of all people now has a 14-game point streak, the longest streak for any player this season. He also has 24 goals with none on the power play.
