First five minutes for Minnesota tonight: double minor for high sticking, interference minor, Subban goal, Backstrom knee/leg injury, Eller PP goal.

On the plus side, Palushaj and Cole are in the locker room for Montreal with injuries.

Good. We need to push that Montreal pick a little lower.

And Stone Cold Killer Heatley helps by cross-checking Subban after a not-bad hit on Brodziak. Yeo needs to use that TO, no SOG yet for Minny.

First SOG for Minnesota comes at the tail end of a PP over 15 minutes into the first. Yikes.

Minny scores 3 times in the final 4 minutes to force OT in Montreal.

Setoguchi wears his clown shoes for the shootout, Habs win.

That would be cool if refs started calling a penalty that's actually in the rulebooks that happens right in front of them.

Bingo. I don't know why the refs don't call this crap. Not only are they commiting a penalty but they are basically insulting the refs intelligence when they do it.

And I hate when they call matching penalties. It does nothing to discourage the dive. Make diving a double minor and subject to supplimental discipline and it would stop belly flops like that pretty quick.

As for White, if Shanahan has any credibility that mugging warrents a call from the principle. 2 games for being a useless punk.

Ryan Miller's second straight shutout (1-0 over
San Jose) puts the Sabres right back in the playoff mix. They jumped over the Leafs last night and suddenly find themselves 4 points behind the 8th place Jets, with 2 games in hand. Miller must be jacked Gaustad is gone.

It would have been awesome if they missed the net short side high and sprung a 4 on 0 for the Panthers.

Grapes is totally blasting Burke on Coach's Corner. Started off as a "Free Ontario hockey players!!!" rant, and by the end it seemed as though he wanted to fight Burke. It was fantastic.

Who does PK Subban go after while continuing to hide behind the linesman as time expires on a 3-1 loss?

Tim F. Connolly. I can't wait until Subban truly gets his.

2 goals for Leino in the first 4 minutes in Vancouver. He had 4 going into this game.

2-0 Buffalo.

edit: now Boyes rings it off both posts. Luongo under siege in the early going.

edit 2: upon review, Boyes's shot was in. That'll be a goal for Buffalo, 3-0 in the first 5 minutes.

And now a goalie change. The Luongo face never gets old.

Amazing. The 2 deadline "winners"(Buffalo and Tampa) were both sellers and, assuming the Sabres hold on, they'll both be 2 points out of 8th after tonight.

He was well out of the crease.

Grabovski's shot deflects off Gunnarsson into the net to make it 2-0, but the Pens get that goal back quickly.

It doesn't make any difference where he's positioned, you cannot hit the goaltender. It's interference.

Pens have cranked up the intensity after a lackluster second. The draw even on a goal by Jordan Staal. The Leafs look ready to crumble.

And just like that, Dupuis scores his second. The Pens take a 3-2 lead.

Tim Connolly just made a sick Michael Ryder quality stacked pad toe save on... Tyler Bozak. Would have easily tied it up.

I'm enjoying Brian Burke's demise as a competent hockey mind far too much.

Montreal with a huge 5-3 win in tonight's tank-off with Edmonton. By goal differential the Habs aren't even close to the 3rd worst team, but barring an unlikely winning streak that's where they'll end up.

And don't look now, but Columbus has won four in a row; 1st overall is not out of the question for Edmonton. Either way they're going to add yet another NHL ready 18 year old.
Hall-Nuge-Eberle
Yak/Grig-Gagner-Hemsky

Prospect fucker's dream but they're probably going to keep sucking for awhile.
