Well they do need an offense transplant in Denver if the swap the QBs out.

Kudos to Irsay for knowing when to blow it up and blowing it up in the right way. Yeah, Peyton might have brought them back to 10 and 6. He wasn't bringing them back to a SB.

I believe he's landed on IR the previous two seasons.

And he kind of sucks. What these guys have in common is that they could not stay healthy. Except for Painter. He just sucks.

The Colts wonder why they lost so many games to injury...and then you look at their roster and its filled with smaller, faster defenders whose bodies can't take the punishment of a whole season.

I believe he's landed on IR the previous two seasons.

Bullitt's had injuries to his shoulder the past 2 years so not sure if he's completely damaged goods. But I think he's a pretty good player (at SS) when he's on the field. Given the serious dearth of quality safeties in free agency, and the lack of depth at the position in the draft (outside of Barron and Smith), I think quite a few teams will look at him.

This has nothing to do with nothing, but Dallas Clark with the NYGiants makes a lot of sense to me.

Former Patriots safety Jarrad Page signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers. He was good enough to be drafted 3 times, once in HS, and twice in college, even after he expressed his desire to pursue football. Not a bad fallback option.

Steve Hutchinson and other starters cut by Minnesota.

MINNEAPOLIS -- After missing the Super Bowl by a few plays two years ago, the Minnesota Vikings have fallen apart, posting a 9-23 regular season record since.

To put the pieces back together, they have to get younger. So their decision Saturday to drop three established, expensive players from the roster was no surprise.

The Vikings released left guard Steve Hutchinson, right guard Anthony Herrera and cornerbackCedric Griffin, saving more than $13 million for this year by jettisoning three players who've been in their starting lineup for the better part of the past five seasons or more.

Hutchinson, a five-time first-team All-Pro pick, was the most significant departure, though at age 34 with a $6.95 million salary that was due this year he realized he was just as likely to be let go as any other number of veterans who don't fit in the franchise's future plan. Hutchinson left the Seattle Seahawks in 2006 to sign the richest contract for a guard in league history and gave the Vikings plenty of bang for their buck until injuries slowed him down in recent seasons.

Hmmmm. Getting younger seems to be a commendable aim, but you'd think keeping Ponder healthy would be part of their plan for the future, and they play in a division with Suh and Raji. Might be seeing a lot of pressure up the middle this season.

Falcons sign local kid Lofa Tatupu (Titularly to a 2 year/$5.75M, but realistically to a 1 year with incentives).

I hope that's not true. I am a fan of Law Firm and a believer that he is a valuable Patriot, so I've been hoping that no other team would be enamoured enough to go after him aggressively.

This is true, I'd like to see him on the Pats for one more season, until we know Ridley can be the go to guy, but ideally Ridley proves that he is worth the draft investment and becomes the lead back. It doesn't make much business sense for Firm to resign with the Pats, especially if you consider the career expectancy of a RB (Jamal Anderson says hello). If he stays on the Pats terms, great, but if he goes he earned it and will be one of my favorite non-Patriots in the NFL.

The source is probably his agent, trying to drive up the price for the Pats. As much as I like the Firm, guys like him are a dime a dozen. No team in their right mind would sign him to any kind of premium long term deal, but then again not all teams are in their right mind.

Just came to a grim realization. With the loss of Jacobs, the Firm makes a lot of sense for the G-Men. Bradshaw has fumblitis, and Benny can really secure the ball. I really hope this doesn't happen...

Actually, I didn't realize that Pouha is entering his age 33 season. Shaun Ellis was 34 last year, and the Jets had no interest in bringing him back at anything above the veteran's minimum. Is Pouha that much better / more important to the Jets than Ellis was?

Pouha didn't enter the NFL until he was 26, so he doesn't have the typical tread on the tires that a 33 year old would normally have.

True enough, but (honest question), does it matter that much at DL? I'd readily buy the argument at, say, RB.

Cowboys lose $10 million in cap space, Redskins lose $36 million in space. Can split it over 2012 and 2013 any way they want. More at ESPN.

All that money goes to 28 other teams -- $1.6 million each -- except for Saints and Raiders, who don't get any but don't lose any.

A bunch of people are usually signed on the first day... the bigger free agents usually take a while longer so bidding wars can drive up their prices, though.

Immediately. It's a running joke when teams cry, "tampering!" because everyone does it. A ton of free agents sign within the first 24 to 48 hours and those deals were obviously being worked on in back rooms the previous week.

Giants fans were sad to see him go. He wasn't the all time greatest, but he got points for taking big time hits without dropping the ball. Weird how the Giants lose both TE's in the last game of the season, and their 2 best options are Boss and Shockey.

I don't get this one. If we wanted Moss back why didn't we do it when it made sense? Like last season after Price got claimed and it was clear Ocho was never going to contribute.
