A decade ago,
I never thought I would be,
at twenty-three, on the verge of
spontaneous combustion. -Woe-is-me.-
But I guess that it comes
with the territory,
An ominous landscape of
never-ending calamity.

This team is a sinking ship amongst rough seas. My brother and I were talking about this a couple of weeks ago, they're going nowhere. Chiarelli and Julien have constructed a terrible roster and play a pathetic system.

The last time I started a thread here, the Bruins lost to the Canucks in game 1 of the SCF. Maybe for once they won't disappoint me like they always do.

The extremes HFboards goes to in order to product KPD is astounding.

We actually had a pretty good 4 or 5 post back and forth, but because I called into question his effort, everything was deleted.

I know I shouldn't let it get to me, but fuck it. I'm unemployed waiting to hear back from 2 or 3 interviews and I've got nothing else going on.

Perfect example right here, thank you.

So, if we speculate....and make clear that's what we are doing...then the reader/consumer reacts that our speculation doesn't come true. Be it speculation rooted in whim, logic, fun...whatever.

If we don't speculate, then there's a segment that wants more of it....much more of it...because that segment grew up on Hot Stove ideas, comments, and that's all they want...the ''churn''.

So, the writer/reporter/columnist/blogger is left to define the role as he/she so desires. Ergo, you see all styles....from baseless rumor and innuendo...all the way over to nuttin' but da facts....up to the consumer to dial in whereever she/he is comfortable.

The thing with HF is they aren't all ignorant/straight up stupid. Guys like DKH/Colt.45Orr/Kirk (obviously)/OOG/MMB/erfus are all really good posters. The unfortunate part is how vastly they're outnumbered by the Riles/Dojjis of the world.

Obviously not all of them are like that, but lately (especially on the main NHL board) it's a never ending discussion of who is/isn't classless, what should/shouldn't be banned/etc. It's just a bunch of monkeys seeing who can throw the biggest pile of shit.

They're best served blowing the place up and starting over as initially an invite only kind of site, and slowly working in the unwashed masses into a culture of posting that strives for intelligence over all else.

Right now it's mostly, vastly unreadable.

I pretty much only use it to check up on prospects from the people who actually see them play. It's okay as a breaking news site because it's very active at all hours of the night, but for every Corsibot-type news post from trusted sources that I want to see, there are hundreds of rabid posts from everywhere else that I don't. Too hard to filter all the noise.

I don't know, I like reading about proposals like this draft day deal: Luke Schenn for the rights to Ryan Suter + a conditional 1st if he doesn't sign.

Love. It.

I'd really love to create a SoSH of hockey, but lack any kind of internet skills (aside from being a terrorist..apparently) to do so.

The web really needs a place for intelligent hockey discussion.

We're not doing too bad right here.

But in the meantime, can we not troll other sites and brag about it here (and this is directed at everyone)? If you want to troll HF that's all well and good, makes us look stupid when we come back here and post links to it and call them out. Let HF be HF and let's just talk hockey here. Thanks.

Edit: And referencing SoSH directly in your trolling makes us look even worse.

Right, but this is a Red Sox site, where fans of the Red Sox who also happen to like the NHL come to talk. We've got what, 20-30 contributing members at most?

And by no means was I trolling HF. It originally started with hub and I going back and forth about his role in reporting on the Bruins. The mods deleted my comments because I told Hub he was being lazy.

My point was simply to point out another message board where difference in opinion was encouraged, and as a result, discussion thrives. I've got more people over there agreeing with me currently than calling me out, so perhaps I'm not making SoSH look so bad after all.

My comment wasn't directed solely to you, either. I just think the discussion sucks here when we're talking about how bad HF is. We know it sucks over there for the most part, so it doesn't do us any good to re-hash it, especially in the public sphere.

And you're right, you weren't trolling in this case, but the Beth-Ann line doesn't serve us well. Whatever, not a big deal.

You have to admit though, it was kind of funny.

God the Bruins need to start winning again. We're at each others throats in here.

If I end up coming back to Mass in March-April - first round on me (only because it means I will have finally gotten a good job and can afford such luxuries) for all the regulars.

What's a holiday? I don't remember what those are anymore.

However, in 2 weeks when my project has gone live, I'm going to get stinking drunk for like a week straight. Which really isn't different than any other week, but without having work in the morning.

Yeah I can't take a vacation until the end of March and even then it's highly frowned upon to do so until June. Damn states and their state regulations messing everything up for me.

Seriously though, collecting over 600$ a week in unemployment, while my wife works 45 hours a week and only pulls in about 600$ after taxes is the funniest thing in the world to me. It makes her so angry that I make more money than her sitting on the couch and drinking beer all day than she does actually working her ass off.

It's going to suck when I get a real job.

I worked today too. Every part of this morning screamed just stay in bed, but nooooooo, I volunteered to work my unpaid job last week like a jackass. Sure enough, it was like I had fucking Ghost Stalin floating over my head all day, dropping boxes on my feet, slicing my finger open on cardboard (ON FUCKING CARDBOARD), bashing my head into low-hanging fruits beams, screwing in impossible-to-unscrew screws. Working in general is the fucking pits, but damn.
