When MikeF gets off his ass :) and posts his thoughts about Day 1 of spring training, I'll re-post the pics in that thread. I'm too excited to wait, so here are pics from yesterday's "optional" workout:

Why does Jon's butt look so big? Did he stop at Taste of Fenway? Okay, okay I'm sorry!

Seriously, keep the pictures coming.

It's "Oops I crapped my pants" brought to you by Jon Lester, new improved holds 4 pounds of processed fried chicken.

Looks like a bathing suit I regretted buying as soon as I went in the water and the water ballooned it out. The rest of Jon looks OK though, right? One player picture and three posts about it, only on a Red Sox board. :bravo:

Keep'm coming!

Who's the top pic, BV? He looks fat. Bad sign.

As for Lester, I think it's just windy.

LOL about Lester's shorts. The material is very light and it was a very windy day.

Everyone is in the best shape of his career. :buddy:

I get off a plane at RSW around 12:30pm tomorrow. Can I just drive over there and roam around the complex, Cheri?

Yes! JetBlue Park is off-limits until the "grand opening" on 2/25 however, you'll have access to the player development complex where the workouts take place. FYI...workouts are generally over by 12:00 so you most likely won't see any action.

We'll stick around if we know you're coming.

Maybe he has been doing the Brazilian Butt workout. That's supposed to give you high, firm buttocks.

Oh, and thank you BSL for taking and posting the pictures. They are greatly appreciated.

Well, if it's over by noon, I guess there's no point today. I'm going to try for later in the week. I'll let you know if I do.

Wow, that's cool. The only clubhouse I've been in is the visitor's clubhouse at AT&T Park in San Francisco, and this looks like it's twice the size of that.

That clubhouse is just going to make them resent even more having to return to the spartan confines of Fenway's clubhouse.

This way, when someone is sent to extended Spring Training, they may have trouble getting them to return to the minors or the bigs!

That picture of Ross sporting the 7 and the picture of the catchers drove it home to me that Drew and Varitek are gone. Right decision of course to move on, but it's going to be weird nonetheless

Thanks for the pictures BSL. Just another sign that spring is on the way.

PS the SoSH spring training thread: where grown men openly talk about other men's bodies. (OMG look at Lester's bodankodonk! Kelly looks so fat! Jacoby's shoulders are so wide!)

From lightly monitoring his twitter account during the offseason, he seemed pretty dedicated to show up ready to crush.

Well, even he must know that if he can repeat last season, it will be worth about $160 million dollars to him. That's a pretty good incentive to hit the gym.

Oh, you folks are killing me with these shots. It's like watching someone eat while you're starving!

I suppose they aren't Spring Training photos, properly, but there's activity at home while everyone else is enjoying the Florida sun!

Posted Image
Popped into Fenway on a tour and came upon what appeared to be a construction zone!

Posted Image
This machine was cutting and shredding a strip of turf at a time.

Posted Image
It was like watching surgery, and the best was yet to come, because after a half hour of the tour, we were evacuated...

Posted Image
... because apparently my unexpected visit had prompted the place to burst into flames.

All things considered I'd rather be in Florida.

Padilla looks in great shape too. My image of him as a Dodger is much heavier, and BREF lists him at 6' 230 lbs. Looking good. Well, here he is fatter looking:

And, he has a background, as we know, if you need this:

I know everyone keeps saying look at this guy, he's in the best shape of his life.... Look how muscular, man he's throwing hard, he really hit the weights this offseason, is that an extra large cup in his pants or is he excited to be at Spring training.....etc. etc. etc.

and most of it's true.. Will it provide results? who knows.

I hate to be one of the cliche' droppers about everyone looking like they showed up ready to proove last season's apparent lack of conditioning was a fluke, but.......

Felix Doubront looks amazingly thin and cut. He hardly even looks like the same guy. Is it just me or did he drop 30+ plus?
