I'm so happy it's getting moved to tonight. My 4 year old is big into cars and racing (thanks Cars movie) and he was all excited to watch the race with me yesterday and was completely crushed when it got rained out. He's going to be psyched when I get home tonight and tell him it's on. I threw a little money on Jamie McMurray and Greg Biffle to win too (+2250 to win on each) to give myself my first rooting interest since the Intimdator died.

FYI it poured again at DIS about 20 mins ago and they lost the track again. Has to be completely dried again and there are more showers/storms around.

No but all the NASCAR media was reporting it on Twitter. It didn't rain for very long but they all said they lost the track in the period when it was raining.

This is gonna be a crazy fricking race. It was going to be nuts in the afternoon, with the race being held at night, the cars will be driving better and the engine temps shouldn't be an issue like they were Thursday, so the pack is going to be tight together. It's going to be who can survive and then put themselves in a position to win with 5 laps left.

Yep. Jimmy Johnson out, as is defending champ, Trevor Bayne, Kurt Busch and David Ragan. Looked for a second that the field was going to get passed Johnson clean, and then Danica got into it behind the scene (not really her fault, nowhere to go) and it caused the remaining cars to get into it. Of course, I started Kurt Busch and David Ragan on my fantasy team today. My remaining drivers are Kevin Harvick and Ryan Newman. I'd bet against their chances right now if i could.

Do you think that's what is? Seems like all the faster cars have decided to run single file. Probably a lot safety decision at this point.

I think as the track rubbers in, the outside line will get stronger later in the race.

Basically right now, the track has so much grip that the guys on the inside are able to hold their cars down lower to the tighter radius without scrubbing off any speed, so the outside lane doesn't gain an advantage from not having to hit that tighter radius but having to run a longer distance each lap.

This is nothing more than a bunch of guys literally whittling down laps and doing some homework. At any time, two cars can hook up nose to tail and blow passed the leaders, but it's not necessary at the moment. One of the great things about NASCAR is the announcers really do a good job of explaining what's happening to the layperson viewer. I don't think Daytona, since the advent of pack racing/restrictor plates has really favored an outside or inside lane, it's just a matter of which guys handle the draft the best and timing. This is currently all about keeping your car in one piece and figuring out your strategy for the last 20-30 laps or so.

Ahh, the debris on the track caution flag that inexplicably seems to come out only when the field is spread out and the race is about to become boring. Pack them back in again boys.

How amazing is it that these guys are doing 200mph and they notice a guy in front of them sticking his hand out the window and have the wherewithall to get around him immediately and the guys behind that guy know to follow the guy in front of them. It's really fucking impressive stuff.

I wish I could just fast forward to the last 40 laps or so. I have a feeling the end of this race is going to be completely insane. These guys all want it so bad and they are just going to explode when they can finally start getting after it.

Tony Stewart has luck on his side so far tonight. Earlier when he pitted by himself a debris caution quickly came out and allowed him to join the pack.

They really are so smooth when it comes to drafting. It's really cool watching some of the drivers that really know what they are doing in the draft versus the guys that don't (Montoya, Ambrose...). Earnhardt, Harvick, Biffle, Martin, Kenseth are all fantastic drafters...Even some lesser known drivers like McMurray and Kahne will start showing up in the front too.
