The Red Sox signed right-hander Sean White to a minor league deal, according to Matt Eddy of Baseball America. White, 30, has 105 career major league games with the Mariners to his credit and has a 4.16 ERA with 4.0 K/9 and 3.4 BB/9. White spent 2011 with the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate.

His K/9 in his 3 major league seasons have been 4.1, 3.9 and 3.9 while being able to pull off a 2.80 ERA, 28 K, 20 BB, 64 IP season.

His swinging strike % has jumped a percentage point each season, so with his groundball wizardry and increasing domination, we should have a sick RP ready for 2017.

That is an astonishingly low K/9. I checked on B-R: it's the 172nd lowest career K/9 since 1960, among pitchers with more than 100 IP.

Now you know.

edit: there a few notables below White's, particularly this guy. Damn.
