As much as that drop hurt, I still think we should resign him. Without him the Pats offense would go completely out of wack.

Welker should have caught that pass, but it would have been a helluva catch. If there has to be a goat here, it's Tom Brady, who made an inexcusably stupid mental error on the first play from scrimmage that cost his team 2 points and ultimately put them 4 points down with :57 and in need of a TD instead of 3 points down where a FG would have sent the game to overtime.

That Pats had several chances to pull away in this thing and just didn't - sometimes through mental errors and stupid penalties. While those mistakes are on the board, I don't really see the point of throwing the blame on a guy who failed to catch a ball straight over his head while levitating parallel to the ground. That's just not where I draw my line in the sand.

I have watched Eli Manning play for a long time now and it has always been apparent that he had the makings of a great QB. I still think Tom Brady is the greatest QB ever, but it has to be said that he has come out tight as a tom-tom, overly wound up, mentally not in the game -let's just say it: he's been a touch chokey- in two SBs now. Eli Manning is no Tom Brady, but one might argue that that is not entirely a bad thing to say about Eli Manning at this point.

You go back to work next season and try again. They will win another one before Brady is done.

It wasn't the defense that cost them this game. Brady to Welker, they have to execute that play. If they do, they win. Period.

Also, Brady seemed to be putting a touch on that ball, and repeats his odd inability to hit targets when they are TOO open, especially when putting a touch on the ball.

That happened a few times over the season, and it cost them the SB here.

This was Brady throwing horrible passes in the last few minutes of that game. the Welker pass was a terrible throw, not Welker's fault and the Branch pass where he would have likely gone 20-30 yards was a horrible pass. Brady also threw another duck into coverage for the interception, a ball he under throws by 10 yards. Brady played great in the middle, but when we need him most, he gave the game away.

As heartbreaking is it was to watch, the objective side of me says that they lost a coin-flip Super Bowl. They were one of the top 5 teams in the league this season, none of them which were any better or worse than each other. They just didn't get the bounces and were up against a team who flat-out showed up to play

Not having Gronk killed them and normally reliable guys made uncharacteristic mistakes (Brady, Branch, Welker).

I watched this at a bar here, with the local football team. 80% Giants fans in attendance, so I was already annoyed. I was midway through a huge 'YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!' and then, I saw that Wes had dropped it. Everything after that was a blur of agony.

The difference though is that before the actual TD, the Giants could pick up a first down without a TD, which is the worst situation possible. And when you are more than 6 yards from the End Zone I think there is more time for your "I've been instructed not to score a TD too early" brain to overtake your "I'm a competitive football player and I want that end zone" brain.
