Preds property Alex Radulov, who led the KHL with 20-60-80 totals in 54 games last year and leads the league again this year with 23-36-59 in 43 games, either slashes or feigns slashing his team's assistant coach.

The lack of reaction by all parties is one of the strangest things I've seen in a hockey game.

Edit: He was trying to hit the glass apparently (there's a mini "my bad" wave after) but still... what?

Oh my gosh, the Kings won because of a "score board malfunction"...sound familiar?

Only in Patriots world are these things made a big deal.

Nobody cared about the Broncos a few years ago. There is a reoccurring theme with violations that apply to the Patriots and everyone else.

I wonder what kind of sanctions the Kings will face, if any.

The Broncos play in the NFL. People care about them a lot more than the NHL. I'm still not sure what this whole thing has to do with the NFL, the Broncos salary-cap evasion or the Patriots.

I am just making a connection towards a rule that both the Patriots and another team broke. One team received far more criticism. I know that the the NHL/NFL are different but I am just making the point that Patriots stories are far more blown out of proportion than another other team or sport. That is all.

In terms of proportion, though, I really don't think you're correct. This is a pretty big story amongst those that follow hockey. Take off the tin foil hat.

And I am still waiting for there to be an uproar about this. Outside of an article posted about it on both Espn (ESPN NHL as well) and TSN, there is nothing. TSN's front page is about the trade deadline in three weeks. You would think that a story of this magnitude would be the cover page to both sites. I am a big hockey guy too but there is hardly any serious uproar.

I was at a bar tonight and ESPN was on randomly so I kept looking up and I saw this goal about 3 or 4 different times throughout the night. On ESPN, that's huge. In proportion it's been a big deal.

So you're angry for hockey people for not being reactionary and somewhat waiting to figure out what happened before jumping to conspiracy? Here's Lombardi's explanation:

"Those clocks are sophisticated instruments that calculate time by measuring electrical charges called coulombs -- given the rapidity and volume of electrons that move through the measuring device the calibrator must adjust at certain points which was the delay you see -- the delay is just recalibrating for the clock moving too quickly during the 10 - 10ths of a second before the delay -- this insures that the actual playing time during a period is exactly 20 minutes That is not an opinion -- that is science -- amazing devise quite frankly."

And FWIW Wysh discussed it at pretty good lengths on his podcast today as well as on Puck Daddy.

It is only in our media's blood to jump to conclusions and to be reactionary regardless of whether or not it is right or wrong.

I guess I haven't been catching Espn at the right moments but I can tell you that regardless of the verdict, this story in the United States or Canada won't be nearly as big as other sports "cheating" stories.

Because it most likely isn't cheating. Unless the guy knew in the one second that the clock stopped that Doughty was going to have a prime scoring chance but only if time was extended by half a second, well I'm guessing he wouldn't be a timekeeper for the NHL. People aren't blowing it up because there's a plausible explanation for it and there is a large amount of time discrepancy in any given game. I hope your panties get in a bunch on every face off when the time doesn't start right when the puck is dropped. Shut happens, it was a regular season game and there is a very plausible answer for it.

And I do think Puck Daddy having 2-3 stories on it as well as spending a large part of the podcast discussing that constitutes a big deal in relative terms.

Of course I'm still trying to figure out what Gronk's ankle's opinion on Kurt Warner and Torry Holt's explosive offense has to do with hockey, so apologies I'd I'm off base.

And remember, the truth is out there.

If I'm understanding it correctly the reason the clock stopped momentarily was because the clock was running a little too fast and delayed a bit until the actual time caught up? That must throw people off. But the goal would still be good.

I guess he's claiming it was just poor timing that it recalibrated at that time. Or something along those lines.

I guess this will be the first professional sporting event held in Brooklyn since the Dodgers last game at Ebbets Field. Sounds promising to this Islander fan.

The New York Islanders will play the first-ever NHL game at Barclays Center on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 when they take on the New Jersey Devils at 7:30 p.m. The preseason game will mark the first hockey event at Barclays Center, the new major sports and entertainment venue, which will officially open on September 28 with the first of multiple JAY-Z concerts. The game will also mark the first NHL game to be played in Brooklyn.

“We’re extremely excited to play the first NHL game in the new, state-of-the-art Barclays Center,” Islanders General Manager Garth Snow said. “We already have some of the most passionate fans in the league supporting our young team, and we are looking forward to expanding our base into Brooklyn.”

This doesn't affect the B's since you guys play at 3 but the morons at NBC have 3 games at 12:30 on Sunday (Penguins-Sabres, Blues-Blackhawks, Sharks-Red Wings) so they've decided to basically pull the same shit MLB on Fox has pulled for years and make it regional coverage (the506.com has a map) with a Center Ice/Gamecenter blackout. They are putting the games on NBCSports.com, though, so I guess that's better than watching some stream like with MLB on FOX but on what's supposed to be "Hockey Day In America," you'd think they could avoid this crap and not screw a bunch of fanbases.

Great haul for Dallas. Grossman is worse than Boychuk, but Holmgren does hate his draft picks...

But at the same time, Holmgren loses nothing off his roster, and the price isn't so bad. Typical deadline deal, I'm sure Grossman will look good alongside a guy like Timonen or Coburn.

I was reading this article today and the following part made me laugh.

Nash would give the Sharks what they hoped to have gotten from Dany Heatley: Lethal scoring on the wing, and maybe even a player that shows up in the championship round!

Seems like a poor choice of words to me.

Holmgren sure does hate his draft picks. Philly picks up Kubina for a 2nd and a 5th.

Nick Kypreos @RealKyper
Confirmed. #SNTrade Kubina to #Flyers for a 2nd and 5th round pick. Done

So if we include Kaberle, so far 5 players from the '07 Leafs have been traded at the deadline. Ponikarovsky, Kubina, Gill, Moore and Kaberle.

Edit: Apparently the Flyers are over both the cap and the contract max, so they have some more work to do.

Boston Herald article today has an article suggesting that insurance companies may stop providing coverage on salaries for players out with concussions. It quotes a Toronto Star’s headline that Stephen Harris/NHL Notes said "was in the sky-is-falling category: 'Concussions could ruin NHL teams if insurers pull coverage.'” It goes on to say, "at least 73 players have been sidelined with concussions this season, approximately 10 percent of the league’s talent." Player agent Allan Walsh said in the Star article, “The entire framework of the NHL is in jeopardy.”

"The risk he [Peter Chiarelli] envisions is not insurance companies refusing to cover concussions but simply charging more to do so."

Interesting read, thanks for posting that. Thankfully, as far as I know they can't do anything retroactively on the Savard/Horton (fingers crossed) contracts

Jonathan Quick, despite his 1.87 GAA and .934 sv%, is 24-16-10

I don't even...

Also, Parise scored, as did Clarkson to keep pace with 22 goals. David Clarkson is a crazy mofo.

Lastly, Blake Wheeler had 4 assists in the Peg's 5-1 win over Colorado. He now has 35 assists on the year to go along with 11 goals. Mercy.
