They also say the Nats are shopping John Lannan after beating him in arbitration (5 million).

Is it possible Selig is postponing his compensation decison based upon where Oswalt and Jackson sign? Just saying...

Jackson was a pipe dream. Do we go after Lannan now? He's not amazing but at 5mil he may be serviceable as a #4/#5.

So moved.

The Nats sound like a good team for Jackson. I think he'll have a much better season in the NL East than he would have had in the AL East. With Strasburg, Zimmermann and Gonzalez, Jackson fills out their rotation very nicely.

The Nats won 80 games last year, with Lannan and Livan putting up 26 losses between them. Stras, Zimm, Gio, Jackson, Wang -- color me excited for 2012.

I should have covered myself by praising the Nats' fine collection of Zimmermänner.

Well, at least Edwin can avoid being booed after giving up 6ER in 3.1IP at the Fens. It seems clear the Sox showed their hand this week, and that may have convinced Boras to go where the money is. At "somewhere between 9 and 12 million" for the year, it's also clear that didn't meet the Sox's valuation. Alas. I don't think anyone was thrilled by Jackson, but most everyone would have felt better having a so-called innings eater to add to the rotation. Somehow I feel liberated by the lower expectations surrounding the Sox this offseason. It fits with our team's personality. We are no Yankees.

That fact that Red Sox fans/Reporters are shocked that a pitcher doesn't want to come to the AL East and pitch in Fenway park on a 1-year deal for nearly half of their asking price in the open market is completely and totally ridiculous.

I can't believe I'll be excited for Natstown/Marlins match-ups next season.

Me too. It is going to be fun this year. Lots of exciting reasons to go to Nats Park this year.
