Three points in the first period for Gagner. That's eleven in four periods.

Actually it's 11 in 3 periods. Scarily enough, he didn't register a point until the 2nd period Thursday night.

He also has a point on 11 straight Oilers goals. That's nuts.

Yikes, you're right about the three periods.

I'm trying to find record for points in consecutive games. I have to think Sittler had at least one point in the game before or after his 10 point outburst, considering that the Leafs scored four in each game.

Edit: It looks like Sittler had two points in the preceding game. So the consecutive game record is at least 12 points.

Most points over two games: 14. Peter and Anton Stastny both did it in February 1981.

Ah the post-merger days when defense was optional.

What Sam Gagner did doesn't matter for shit. Brayden Schenn got knocked the fuck out.

Lidstrom sends the game to a SO with a great save.

Edit: And Gagner scores in the SO. RNH wins it in the 6th round.

What a goddamn circus that was. Philly is the scummiest goddamn team.

Ilya Kovalchuk beat the snot out of Brayden Schenn though:

Lucky punch or not, I am utterly in awe.

Both of what Kovalchuk did, and of how shitty a player Rinaldo is.

edit: Fittingly, I mixed up Rinaldo and Sestito once again,

If they named him Breaker he probably would've blocked the punch.

But if he was on TBlades he had what was coming.

second straight day the Devils get away with murder that leads to a shorthanded goal. Kovalchuk committed a sexual assault on Paul Martin.

Pretty good slate of games on tap for tonight. Caps/Panthers battling it out for first place in the Southeast, Rangers/Devils, a hot Isles team taking on Philly, Montreal/Pittsburgh and Nashville/Vancouver.

Naturally, NBCSN is airing the least compelling matchup of the night, Tampa/LA.

Giroux amazes me every time I watch him.

Columbus draws first blood against Minnesota with David Savard's first NHL goal.

Oof, Okposo beats Bryzgalov cleanly but rings iron

Clarkson continues his god damn ridiculous season with a snipe on Lundqvist off a nice feed from Parise.

Cafardo of nothing, if he sticks in the NHL, I may have to get a Rhett Rakhshani jersey to match my yet-to-be-purchased Zibanejad sweater.

When the hell did Clarkson become a goal scorer?

Ottawa's in a pretty spectacular nosedive. 0-5-1 in their last 6 headed into tonight, and they're down 2-0 to the Blues 3 minutes into the game. They were a nice story in the first half, but you have to figure they won't be in the playoff picture come April.

NJ hangs on for the 1-0 win over the Rangers. Rangers scored with 3 seconds left, but the goal got waived off due to goalie interference on Gaborik. Gaborik was driving to the net and locked up with Volchenkov when he plowed on through Brodeur. Torts may kill someone tonight.

Rangers tying goal waived off with 3 seconds left for goalie interference, tough call. A rare bonehead play by Parise by trying to hit the empty net instead of dumping it in deep almost cost them.

The Flyers outshot the Isles 45-18, lost 1-0 in the shootout. The Isles are slowly trying to make a move up the standings. They jumped over Tampa tonight into 11th. 9 points behind the nosediving Sens in 8th, but they do have 3 games in hand on Ottawa.

Maybe I missed something, but it didn't look to me like Subban did anything wrong. He hit Malkin, legally, a couple of times, Malkin got frustrated, came back at him and they sort of shoved each other until Letang tried to rip Subban's head off. Not that I have an issue with Subban's head being ripped off.

cshea, Geno didn't come back after him - you can see Subban staring at Malkin for the entire last 10 seconds even after the puck's left Malkin's stick. He's in there purely to troll, knowing there's no consequence going into the shootout.

Subban was totally trolling, but I also thought Malkin was just frustrated after Subban made a few nice checks on him and is partially to blame for that scrum. Wasn't as bad as his usual slew footing antics.

Either way, Subban still needs to die.
