It's really remarkable how inept Buffalo has been offensively.

Eh. Wasn't so bad. Ennis is still a prick though.

Worth it to see Lindy get upset.
Will they score with 3 seconds left on the PP?

Miller similarly robs Mitchell... who was on the shootout why?

It's like a baseball game going to extra innings, and the home team deciding to hit first.

Great game in Buff tonight. Was able to catch about a third of the game when the Celtics were in commercial and half.

The Devils go first pretty much every time and have won 9 of 11 SOs so... yeah. If you have guys who actually know what they're doing in the SO, going first can put the pressure on the other team. Kovalchuk has scored 8 outta 9 times and he always shoots first for NJ.I'll never understand why teams elect to shoot first in these things.

Buf/NYR has been a fantastic game. Kassian is putting on a clinic physically.
That was an outstanding game. Gaustad was a force and his play on the PK was very impressive. It's too bad that his effort was wasted by guys like Ehrhoff who apparently can't QB a powerplay without the Sedins and is almost a non-factor defensively and Ville Leno who is just a neutral zone turn over machine. Losing Vanek is crippling.
The second best part of Callahan ragdolling Ennis, apart from Ennis going down like a Benny Hill dummy, was that there was no call.

As you can very clearly see in the video, the clock stopped with 1.8 seconds remaining, froze for about two seconds, and then kept counting down. Doughty scored with either 0.4 seconds left or 0.3 left, depending on your eyes, but either way, with as long as that clock froze, there's no way this goal should have counted.

But hey, they're at least a point closer to Yakupov.

LA currently 7th in the West with 60 points in 51 games, when they should only be entitled to 59. If they make the playoffs by a point or win a tiebreaker v. Minnesota/Dallas/Colorado, it could get ugly for the NHL. The last thing they need is the stench of rigging that pervades the NBA.

Wow. That's a pretty glaring blunder right there, sucks for the Blue Jackets.
But hey, they're at least a point closer to Yakupov.
Here's the problem, though, Columbus has already developed a reputation for not developing Russian talent (Zherdev and Filatov). I know Yakupov is playing in the OHL unlike those two but would Yakupov or Grigorenko want to play there and would Columbus want to take a third shot at something they've struggled with?

I don't see either of these guys as a flight risk, though they could always trade down, amass more picks, and draft Galchenyuk (Wisconsin-born) or a guy like Ryan Murray towards the bottom of the top ten. Besides, with their luck, Grigorenko will get bird AIDS and they'll lose the lottery anyway.
edit: Plus no more Ken Hitchcock there helps.

Really nice hit by Subban, and really classy move checking on Larsson after the fuck.

If he could ever harness those type of skills and drop the bullshit, he'd be a pretty amazing player. As dirty as it feels to say that.

Oh and Scott Gomez Goal Drought Watch has reached 57 games.
If he doesn't score against Dallas on Tuesday, he will go over a full calender year without a goal.
Have another drink on me, you bum.

I'll never understand why teams elect to shoot first in these things.
It's like a baseball game going to extra innings, and the home team deciding to hit first.
In baseball your strategy changes depending on what the other team has done. If you're the home team and you're in the bottom of the 10th and it's still tied, a team may be more inclined to bunt and play for one run. If you're down by 3 with one runner on, bunting would be ludicrous.
In hockey, one shooter has no relation to the outcome of the next (there's no equivalent to runners on base). Every single shooter is trying to do one thing: score. It doesn't matter if you're down 2-0, up 1-0, or tied, the only thing a shooter is trying to do is score. In that sense, knowing what the other team has already done in their half of the stanza does not give you a strategic advantage. Thus, I think most teams elect to shoot first since on the whole, goalies have an advantage in shootouts. The idea is that if it comes down to it, it's easier to "ask" your goalie to make a save than it is to "ask" your shooter to score a goal.

Flyers completely lose their minds... Zubrus scores with 0.4 left in the period.
1 bad call causes the entire Flyers roster to mentally melt down.
Hilarious.
