Is there a football equivalent to "The Green Fields of the Mind" by Bart Giamatti? I need to feel better about things.

Yeah it's this:

“My sweet friends and family: This offseason will be a really important one in my husband’s life. He and his team worked so hard to get to this point and now they need us more than ever to send them positive energy so they can fulfill their dream of winning another super bowl …

So I kindly ask all of you to join me on this positive chain and pray for him, so he can feel confident, healthy and strong. Envision him happy and fulfilled experiencing with his team a victory on a sunday about 1 year from now.

Thank you for your love and support."

New York sucks.

If you released a pack of zombies into the crowd at a Jets or Giants home game, they'd starve to death.

I've honestly shut the tv off and turned the phone off. I don't really want to venture outside of this thread right now either.

No quotes, but I could sense his emotion over the radio.

I don't give a fuck about Welker's press conference. He's still fucking richer than any of us will ever be, although none of us will have the chance to piss away the Super Bowl sooooo.

Only 4 teams have led a Super Bowl with 1:00 left and lost. Belichick has coached two of them.

Starting with the September collapse, getting hurt severely at work in October, losing my Father to cancer in November, losing my cat on Wednesday and now having to deal with this bullshit... WTF? Really? This whole time frame fucking blows more than anything. I'm still stunned. This is the oddest Super Bowl that I've had to witness. 17-9 we had this shit. 12 unanswered after that... Son of a fucking fuck

I understand that there are multiple reasons why the Pats lost this game.

The most painful/signature/Asante-like reason in my mind is the Welker drop.

I know it was not a perfect throw. I remember the safety. Brady had some shitty moments. Blah Blah Blah.

Welker catches that pass and the game is 99.999 % in the bag.

Yep.

It sucks, because I still love the guy. But to me, it's clear these last couple playoff games that he hasn't played at an elite level. This Giants defense is good, but not all-time levels good. If you're supposed to be one of the greatest QB's to ever play the game, you need to win this game. If we had Aaron Rodgers tonight, we would have won. Especially with his scrambling ability.

You mean the same Aaron Rodgers that lost to this team 3 weeks ago?

I'm inviting flaming here but so what. We love this team, we make our families crazy for 6 months, and then this. But we (mostly) get to wake up in a country where we have it better than 99% of the world. And we have kids who will love us, who will be upset about this with us and will also get excited about next season and the Sox season coming up. My 6 yr old stayed up for the whole game, and was ready to cry, and all I could do was tell him that it happens and we'll get them next year. He's learning early what I learned during SB XX. Hopefully he doesn't have to wait too long to see 3 rings.

You know, I used to handle postseason heartbreaks pretty well. I would be able to say, "gotta hand it to the other team" and even keep watching the postgame show. After SB 42, the Ravens loss, the Jets loss, and tonight, the tv was off as soon as the clock read 00:00.

Looking at the replay, with 32 seconds to go, the 1st down 11 yard pass to Hernandez wasn't the best option, with Woodhead WIDE open with easy ability to go OOB. Another Brady mistake.

When the Sox lost the last night of the season, I laughed at them. Yep, I laughed my head off at them. They deserved what they got. I was more upset when Tito left than when that bunch of clowns spit the bit the last night of the year.

But this Patriots team? They deserved better than this. Damnit.

I guess what is really bothering me is I don't see the big difference between the teams that allows the Giants to beat the Pats 3x in a row, think about it. If the Pats beat the Giants during the season, the Giants are not in the playoffs.

That's the age old question - is it better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all?
Unfortunately, it seems like this is the price of admissions for being relevant and in the mix. For every October 2004 there is an Oct 2003. For every Pats Rams and Panthers there are the Giants. Same with Celts-Lakers through the years.
If Boston fans are in the mix every year there is bound to be some heartbreak along the way. Better to be in the game though then sitting on the sidelines. 30 other teams would trade with us. No doubt it sucks right now, but least we are relevant and in the mix every year.
That's the price to pay we pay.
There is heartbreak along the way but who knows what may be right around the next corner.
