Eli is over due for a poor playoff game.

the last two Pats - Giants games have featured 7 fumbles, with 6 of them recovered by the Giants.

The only thing that can stop the Patriots is turnovers. Win the turnover battle, win the game.

AND FUCKING MURDER THEIR FUCKING NEW YORK FUCKING ASSES

Matt Light was kept away from media day due to it. I think Vollmer also.

But Light says he's now back to full health.

EDIT: I can't find this on-line, but here's a second hand report from NFL.com from yesterday:

An apparent stomach bug has affected the New England Patriots
this week, as starting tackle Matt Light missed practice Monday
and was kept out of Media Day on Tuesday because he is ill,
according to a team official.

No other Patriots players other than Light are known to have been
affected, but other team personnel have fallen sick, according to
the team official.

I still can believe this is the Pats 5th time to the Super Bowl in 10 years. Enjoy it folks.

11 years.

I've seen this a hundred times this week and not just here (written by people that should know better) so I'm not trying to pick on you.

2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012

Doesn't really make it any less amazing.

From an ESPN article comment page.

I laugh at the NFL Network and their 24/7 of analysts who are all picking the Giants.

They all continue to rave about the (9-7) Giants as if they were the second coming of the Steel Curtain.

They forget we have Myra. Go Pats!

I had one friend invite me over to watch in his backyard -- huge projector setup, etc. The problem? 9 Giants fans and me. I told him I'd rather be at Auschwitz in 1942 than at his place. Talk about insufferable.

I really don't think I could take a Patriots loss here. I started off thinking the Pats would lose (and even bet it!) but now I'm feeling like the Pats win by 4-7 points.

Ugh. Fuck. Sunday can't get here soon enough.

Well, SB36 was played Feb. 3, 2002 - 10 years from tomorrow. It's accurate to say the Pats are playing in their fifth Super Bowl in 10 years, even though it's actually the fifth in 11 seasons. 10 years sounds better.

Eli is over due for a poor playoff game.

He wasn't great against SF. He was actually terrible in the one playoff game he played in the 2008-2010 seasons.

He's had a very good year but he's getting overrated.

Of course he doesn't have to be all that good to throw on Sterling Moore and Edelman and Molden.

Eli hasn't really been all that different from previous seasons. Cmp%, QBR are all about the same. The only real difference is he threw alot more, so he got alot more yards. Probably due to having better receivers. Of course, he is better than anyone else the Pats have faced this year.

Welcome all Patriots-fan SoSHers to Indy. The city has been great this week... weather has been fantastic and the pre-Super Bowl events have been terrific.

I am seething at all the Giants love here. However, I am quietly confident about the way the Patriots are approaching this game.

They will end this media-driven charade.

They will be champions.

Eli Manning isn't a better quarterback than Ben Roethlisberger. Or Philip Rivers, for that matter. Seriously, Eli caught fire at the right time and now everyone is slobbering over him. The way they talk about him you'd think he was a young, up-and-coming kid with a bright future ahead of him. Dude's 31 (the same age as Brady was going into the 08 SuperBowl), he was the first overall pick, he has arguably the best WR group in the NFL to work with, he better be having some success. He's a good quarterback, but all the talk about how he's better than Peyton, or how he's more 'clutch' than Brady is absolutely retarded. Eli is streaky, and he's on a hot streak. The other times in which he got to the playoffs on a cold streak the Giants were one and done. He's had pretty solid teams around him his whole career, and yet his winning percentage is .580 and his TD/INT ratio is lower than 1.5. Really, I know this doesn't come into play a whole lot in Sunday's game, but the hype around this dude is bothering me a lot, man. I'm not even disagreeing with what you posted here, I think I just need to vent over all the bullshit I've been hearing about Eli this week. He's Phil Simms in a passing-friendly environment.

Well, your tip tier is the elite passing guys (unordered) Aaron Rogers, Brady, Brees, Peyton Manning(when healthy), i.e. guys who can pretty much carry a team to a degree.

Then your next tier is guys who have some flaws, but are still pretty good and considered "franchise" guys:(there could be a few more in here, but I'm sticking to guys who have established a career tragectory)

Romo(best passers in here, but prone to boneheaded moves)
Rivers - Good when on, but inconsistent
The Rapist and Eli - flawed, but on good teams, seems to do well under pressure.

This year you could argue that Eli has moved to the top of the second teir, but he hasn't made the leap to the top one yet. Another way of looking at it is....if the both teams had the same D(either one really), the Pats would probably be favored by a TD at least.

Don't forget his 25 pick/5 fumble 2010 season. He's had a great 2011 but he was bad in 2010, which is why the contrasting media coverage of Brady (possibly overrated? inconsistent in the playoffs) andEli (future hall of famer!) is so remarkable.

I think Eli is also getting extra credit, or style points, for taking such a beating against SF and not turning the ball over or disintegrating. The lasting image of that game is of him with helmet askew, shoulder pads sticking out, looking unfazed. Of course, that doesn't make him a great QB. And he threw at least two balls that should have been picked off.

Prop bet of the week--Devin McCourty picks off at least one pass. QB who loves to throw floaters + safety with CB instincts = INT.
