Per Peter Abraham: The Boston Red Sox and Lowell Spinners today announced the extension of their player development contract for an additional two years. The extension keeps the Red Sox New York-Penn League Short-Season Single-A affiliate in Lowell through the 2014 season.
One wonders why the extension was for only two years and not four like they just did with Greenville.

Maybe a stadium in Malden has them interested? Doubtful, as I believe the Can-Am league will end up there.

My first thought on seeing this headline was that Ben traded Youkilis for a crappy middle reliever and brought Mike Lowell back.
