Na in full on Rory mode, while those douches behind the tee sing songs at him.
Yeah they were singing "Na, na, na, na... hey, hey, hey... goodbye"

HUGE birdie putt for Ricky Fowler!
EDIT: Holy cow, even bigger one for Kuchar.
That was the daggar by Kooch. Huge putt. Unless Kuchar splashes on 17, this is over.

So close. What an approach shot, Rickey's going to be a name in golf for a while, he picks it up when others fall around him.

I totally agree, I think he is going to be a star. After that double on 5 and the bogey on 7 he could have easily fallen apart... instead he hung in and shot -3 the rest of the round. That putt on 18 is going to hurt if Kuchar goes on to bogey the hole, though.
Na dropped on the path? Interesting.,

Fowler hit a 7 iron from 194 on the 18th hole, put it right there. There is just beyond impressive.
Kooch is a fine golfer in his own right. And it's over.

My favorite part of the Sunday telecast was a shot of Kuchar putting and then instantaneously Johnny Miller says "I was the first one to putt with the putter against the forearm...then Langer picked it up and now Kuchar." Yes, Johnny, you invented that method and the claw (if I recall). A putting genious

Yea, he is also a complete asshole that lacks a grip on reality.Miller is an arrogant prick sometimes, but the dude knows his shit. I learn something from him everytime I watch a tournament in which he's announcing. If you actually listen to him, he gives great nuggest of advice.
Johnny Miller SUCKED at Sawgrass. I mean he was absolutely awful, yet he sounded like he knew every shot on that course. He's a dick that has no concept as to his place in golf history.

He has a US Open (along with the all-time lowest round), a British Open, and 25 Tour wins. His resume is very good.

I never said that and I doubt he has either. Maybe it's just his attitude you hate, maybe his ugly face, but whatever it is you're being irrational. You're suggesting that because he sucked at Sawgrass back in the day he couldn't know the proper shots for any particular situation. That's pretty dumb.

He also played when Nicklaus won five majors, Weiskopf was a force, and Watson was coming into his own.
There is some context to the 63 that Miller is reluctant to mention. The sprinklers were left on overnight, and when Miller went off early the greens were remarkably soft compared to their normal firmness and speed. He was throwing darts, but he also got to ram everything into the hole. Lanny Watkins shot 65.
I generally like Miller, especially for calling out guys for choking, but he has an annoying habit of calling wayward shots going the incorrect direction right off the clubface, and calling some 10-footers easy putts.

Actually my point was that he is completely hypocritical when he pretty much insults every single player for the smallest error committed, when he himself was awful at said course. I did not say he didn't know the proper shots. I'm saying that if he did know the proper shots he sucked at executing them. And yet, he called the game as if he was above it all.I never said that and I doubt he has either. Maybe it's just his attitude you hate, maybe his ugly face, but whatever it is you're being irrational. You're suggesting that because he sucked at Sawgrass back in the day he couldn't know the proper shots for any particular situation. That's pretty dumb.
If Johnny Miller commentated on Johnny Miller when he played Sawgrass it would have been BRUTAL.
Edit: And yea, I'm pretty much saying he is a dick. We know this.

Not so fast, sadly, as I share your contempt for him. Mickelson shot 79 and is T112. Seven over on his last seven holes.

SHOCKING that it's a mild sprain. Tiger was playing like shit on Sunday, so he faked an injury that he could have certainly played through, and quit because he knew he couldn't win. It started with the shoe change and escalated with the "limp". He hit a 320-325 yard drive and then he hung it up. If you're really hurt, you're not hitting 300+ yard drives.
I wish Tiger was playing better and more involved with the top of the leader board, but his drama is getting ridiculous. He quits like John Daly now. Not where you want to be.

"Mental fatigue." Can't wait to read johnmd20 trash him for his drama and how he quits like John Daly now.
The money quote from Mickelson:
"I feel like it's the responsibility of a player to see through your commitment and finish the tournament and so forth, and I'm kind of overruling that just a touch because I'm trying to think big picture on what's the best way for me to get ready for the Open."
Let me see if I understand this:
- Players have a responsibility to see through their commitment.
- Phil is overruling this - his own rule, mind you - because he's trying to think big picture. And he's tired right now.
- But he totally believes that players have a responsibility to see their commitment through to the end. Except when he's tired. And playing poorly.
For the record, the reason he is so tired is that he's played a lot of golf recently. Oh, and he also took a trip to Italy and France last week for Amy's birthday followed up by a corporate outing (that I'm sure was worth big $$$ to him) this past Tuesday. See, it's tiring being Phil.
What a first class douchebag.

If this was Tiger, he'd be getting absolutely trashed by the media right now. I'm watching Morning Drive on the Golf Channel and they're basically being sympathetic to Phil. I watched the coverage yesterday and Phil absolutely gave up during the round and played like he didn't give a shit, it was embarrassing. Again, Tiger would have gotten trashed for that as well.
I really have no problem with Phil withdrawing if he feels he can't complete the tournament, but the double standard is what pisses me off. The media darling just skates by again.

Not sure what you're getting at. What Phil is doing here is just as bad at what Tiger did. They both are drama queens. Does that work for you?

What Phil is doing here is worse in my opinion.
Tiger withdrew with a minor injury, which he never would have done in the past, and he was properly criticized for it. But I can at least understand the rationale for it - he felt a tweak and (unlike in the past) he wasn't going to push himself.
Mickelson has no such excuse. He was simply playing poorly and he quit. Then he made a statement where he tried to have his cake and eat it too, by affirming his responsibility to finish the tournament but then exempting himself from that very responsibility because he was too tired from his family trip to Europe and his corporate whoring earlier in the week to play well. And instead of killing him for this, the press ate it up.
As FL4WL3SS said, the double standard here is appalling.

There is no question Phil is admirably generous with his money and his time. The return on that investment is a massive free pass from the media.

It also helps that his wife is cute as a button and both her and his mother had breast cancer. I did gain a lot of respect for the way he handled that situation, it was tough, but it also gives him the ultimate free pass with the media.Agreed. He quit Jack's tournament, an event he has never won. I bet he wasn't tired on the 12th tee three shots back.

Unlike Tiger who was nailing buck toothed waitresses in a church parking lot.

They are both bad but this is worse. Especially the "I'm so tired from my European vacation" part of his excuse. That is nearly a "let them eat cake" type of comment. Phil has always gotten a free pass because he plays the "game" with the media, unlike Tiger who was banging waitresses and always truculent. But Phil doesn't deserve a free pass and the media does suck for giving him one.

I just laugh when the self-important media gets all butthurt when Tiger does his fan sessions instead of media sessions. As a fan, I would much rather join a google+ chat with Tiger than watch a media session of spoon fed questions. The media hate it because he's catering to the fan instead of them and they feel slighted, but it should be applauded - even if it is a slight against the media and a publicity stunt. It's progressive and it gets the fans involved, nobody else on tour is doing it.
The response from the media is "well he should do both", but why? He's answering all the questions that the fans care about - screw the media if they think their questions are better and he has an obligation to them. His obligation is to himself, the game and the fans first, IMO.
Phil has done enough on and off the course that he deserves the benefit of the doubt most of the time. I have no problem with the media giving him a free pass on this one, but I do have a problem with the double standard.

See, to me, the comment about his vacation shows what a tin ear he has, because that's an unforced error.
You're fatigued, you're not at your best, then fine, withdraw. But don't tell us the reason is that your recent European vacation and your corporate outing this week have left you unable to perform your actual profession, because that makes you sound like an entitled douche.

No, it doesn't. The difference is, you accused Tiger of faking an injury when there's no reason to believe that's what he did. He was noticeably limping, he had suffered this injury before, and he was 5 under par for the tournament.

He had every reason to play on...he had played 65 holes, and the final seven would have given him probably 75-100k of cash, world ranking points, fedex points, etc. But because he wasn't going to win the tournament, you accused him of faking, quitting, and being John Daly. It's nonsense. Phil on the other hand, admittedly quit in a wholly self-interested way at Jack Nicklaus's tourney. He had nothing to gain because he wasn't going to make the cut. No money, no WGR points, no FedEx Cup points, so he said screw it. It's all about Phil.
EDIT: Tiger was actually -6 when he withdrew. Which would have been good for about $75k, and 45 FedEx Cup points, which would mean he'd be #14 in the standings right now as opposed to #17.

Tiger has done more for the game than anyone in the history besides maybe Arnold.
Old Tom Morris, Harry Vardon, and Walter Hagen belong on that list.

Man, you are a bit of a nut and you are taking this a little too personally and I'm not sure why. Slow down and take a breath. Tiger did quit. Injury or not, he picked up his clubs, got into his car, and drove away from the tourney. After crushing a 315 yard drive. I don't know how hurt he was or wasn't, but he packed it in and walked into his car, which is a John Daly move. And it was the 2nd time he walked off a tourney while not playing well in the past year. Maybe he's just super safe now in protecting his body. Still, it was a weak move.
What Phil did sucked, too. But his wife had breast cancer and 15 porn stars didn't come out to say Tiger wanted to pee on them while taking Ambien, so he gets a pass. And that sucks. That doesn't mean Tiger should get a pass.

Thanks for putting it all in perspective. I was really losing my mind there for a minute. Or, you just have an irrational hatred for a professional athlete you don't know because he cheated on his wife that you don't know that causes you to accuse him of faking injuries for absolutely no logical reason. One of those.
