PIT @ DEN did a 42.4 rating for CBS. Highest for 2011, highest wild card ever, highest TV show since the last Super Bowl.
Imagine what an 8pm Saturday night game with Tebow @ NEP will do? It may actually draw more viewers than one of the conference title games next weekend.

I guess we will see when the #'s come in but I wouldn't be surprised to see a drop off from this weeks Pitt DEN game.
There is a reason networks never schedule their "A" shows for Friday/Saturday night. This is part of the reason I was surprised to see the Pats get the Saturday slot.

The gamethread follows Dogman around everywhere he goes, holding onto Dogman's beltloop at all times. AIN'T THAT RIGHT, GAMETHREAD!!!!!Yep, it's Tuesday. I'm treating the gamethread rules like the Pats treated the Bills 2 Sundays ago.

You think the additional eyeballs are because of Tebow or because it was a pretty damn good game that looked like an upset candidate pretty early on?

Dry and chilly. Temps in the 20's. NW winds about 15 mph.
Good. People in the other thread were wishing for snow and making points about Brady's record in snowy conditions, how it actually helps the short passing attack, etc. Factually, these points all ring true... but, wishing for weird weather conditions seems too clever by half. The Pats are the better team > normal conditions lessen chance of flukey outcome > I'll take normal conditions, please.

Both actually. The Tebow Hallelujah win over the Steelers combined with the Brady-Belichick Pats. Their regular season game was the highest rated regular season game of the year for CBS. The public may even think Tebow has a chance over the "evil" Pats. Of course, Vegas has it at - 13 1/2.

Were they people who don't live around here or people who own plows?Good. Isn't a Sunday day game more likely to have a bigger share than a Saturday night game when a larger % of people are out than any other day of the week?
I guess we will see when the #'s come in but I wouldn't be surprised to see a drop off from this weeks Pitt DEN game.

Well they certainly don't schedule A shows for Sunday at 4pmET/1pmPT, or 1pmET/10amPT!

Just found out I am going to my first ever Patriots game this Saturday!!!!!! I live around 7-8 hours away in Canada (please don't shoot me) and have seen the other 3 teams but never seen the Pats. I am through the roof right now that I am coming to the playoff game. Unreal.
That is a Doozy of a first Pats' game, man. Congratulations!

New 8-11pm temps: 22-20-18-16 with the windchill progressing from 10-9-5-2
Hot damn.
Not quite Packers-Giants in '07, or Titans-Patriots in '03, and certainly not the Bengals game like 30 years ago (-59 or something), but fuck that's cold. Stay home, old people.

I am 99% sure that the Broncos will run a flea-flicker sometime during the game. I remember in the broadcast last week they were talking about watching their practice and noting that the Broncos were practicing new plays (such as a flea-flicker) that they would use during the playoff game. They didn't use a flea flicker against Pittsburgh so they still have that saved in that their bag of tricks.
I think they already used it in the previous NE-Denver game. Wasn't it this one?

I swear to God that some people think Joe Montana never lost a big game.
No kidding. He went out in the first round 3 years in a row for fuck's sakes!
1985: 3-17 @ NYG. 26-47, 296 yards, 1 INT
1986: 3-49 @ NYG. 8-15, 98 yards, 2 INTs
1987: 24-36 vs. MIN. 12-26, 109 yards, 1 INT. To make it worse SF had gone 13-2 that year.
How many people threw that asinine "HE HASN'T WON A PLAYOFF GAME IN 4 YEARS!!" idiocy at him back then, like they do at Brady now?
Christ on a crutch. I hate everyone.

I was at that game in '03 and holy shit was it frigid.

Joe wasn't above everything at all. In 1986 when he hurt his back and was out for most of the season, there were even some rumors that he was actually in drug rehab. And, of course, the 9ers brought Steve Young to the team long before Joe was close to done. Overreacting dumb shit that I am, I said to my son that they should put in Steve Young for that last drive in super bowl 23 against the Bengals. I liked Steve's great run ability to go with his passing. He disagreed and was of course right. Montana is probably best remembered for the super bowls, in which he was stellar, e.g., 0 INTs and 11 TD passes in 4 games and an average passer rating (not the new one) of 127.8. He did have some not so stellar postseason games though. No kidding. He went out in the first round 3 years in a row for fuck's sakes!

I guess my point and Merlin's point are that even the great Joe Montana, "Best QB to have ever played the game," had a series of truly horseshit playoff games. No one seems to remember that any more. I'm just saying that in general that should be kept in mind before folks rush to throw dirt on Tom Brady's playoff career.

Of course. And, Joe, or the team and Joe, came back from those mid 80s losing playoff games with victories in SB 23 and 24. That's what we want with Tom and the Patriots, starting with Saturday and culminating in SB 46 (and what the hell 47 and any more with which they want to bless us).I guess my point and Merlin's point are that even the great Joe Montana, "Best QB to have ever played the game," had a series of truly horseshit playoff games. That wasn't a flea flicker, at least by my understanding of the term, which is a handoff to the running back, who then pitches back to the QB, who then throws.
Your understanding is correct, the ball has to go back to the QB for it to be a flea flicker.
