Surprised to see the big movement in the lines toward Bama this week. Would have thought LSU would be pretty much universally favored.
I liked it better when LSU was favored - I don't want their players getting any disrespected underdog motivation worked up.

Why is Alabama being favored on the betting lines?
They started as a 2 point underdog, the betters pushed the line 4 points. I think it's based on Richardson and probably the better overall D, but it could be some big money used on an unknown factor.

That's the thing. Usually when there's a swing like that, it's possible to put your finger on some underlying factor, but if there is one, it's not widely known at all.

Will be interesting to see the field position game. After the kicking display in the first game, I'm expecting the 30-35 and beyond to be 4 down/punt territory tonight.
I better not see any 50 yard field goal attempts from Bama this time around. I still can't believe Saban didn't try to convert some of those 4th downs or take the modest, but valuable exchange in field position when yards were so hard to come rather than try such low percentage kicks, especially for our kickers' known limited range. Uncharacteristic tactical mistake by Saban. Unless Shelley and Foster got bionic legs installed since the Iron bowl - in that case, let 'em fly!

LSU
1. Force Richardson east-west, control the outside
2. Don't make dumb mistakes/penalties and control your emotions
3. Stay aggressive and do what you've done all year
Alabama
1. Stop the run early, force LSU to pass
2. Stay even (or win) in the special teams battle and don't allow the big play
3. Protect the passer

I hate to go all conspiracy theorist but my experience with gambling on football has always been that when all of the money is on one team and the line gets pushed as much as it has on this game, bet the team that will win Vegas the most money. In this case LSU.
