Yep, it's Tuesday. I'm treating the gamethread rules like the Welker treated the Dolphins secondary on Saturday.

Stage 1: The Turnaround. Complete.
Stage 2: The Momentum Builder. Complete.
Stage 3: The Defensive Posture. Complete.
Stage 4: The Don't Overlook Game. Complete.
Stage 5: The Play 60 Minutes Game. Complete.
Stage 6: The Stop the Tebow Nonsense Game. Complete.
Stage 7: The Saturday Game. Complete.
Stage 8: The Number 1 Seed Game.

Pats by 6.

Back in August in the prediction thread I said that the Pats would go 12-3-1 because I'm an asshole.

Pats by 0. Final score: 27-27.

It will be brutal.

38-3 at halftime.

Game called midway through the fourth quarter as the NFL implements an emergency mercy rule.

Hopefully it happens sooner than that. Criqui and Cross are calling the game for CBS.

Even Chad Finn's listening to Gil and Gino this Sunday.

I'd like a crisp game on both sides of the ball with no injuries. It would be great if the defense* could have a monster game to get some momentum going into two weeks of practice. I kindly submit my request for a 45-0 victory.

Brady misses practice again with a "left shoulder."

Now there's reports from Reiss, Young, and Whitmer that Brady IS practicing. The only players not spotted at practice were Mankins and Vollmer.

Brady dressed for warmups but then did miss the rest of practice. Xrays on left shoulder were negative.

Slide quicker next time, please.

I think he's referring to the Schefter report that Brady would stretch but not participate in the closed portion of practice (i.e., everything else). Unclear yet whether that was indeed the case, but Schefter seems pretty adamant in his tweets.

Yeah but Schefter is just so consistently wrong about stuff like this.

[This is where I go on a mini-rant: he never uses sources, he blows a story, and then he says "what can I say, my source told me that Brady wasn't going to practice and they were wrong" Well if you don't have an on the record or somewhat identifiable anon. source then you can't hide behind them when they're wrong--if you're not going to used sourced materials then you're vouching for the accuracy of those sources.

He is listed as limited on the injury report today. He stretched at practice and that may be all he did.

It's already happening, complete with bootleg videos of Brady throwing today. A routine drill in which the QBs practice keeping their lead shoulder tucked exploded into a discussion of whether Brady was favoring his arm (which of course was not the case, unless Brian Hoyer recently injured his left shoulder and is similarly favoring it).

It's a minor injury that isn't preventing Brady from throwing, showed up as a non-issue in X-Rays, will not affect his status in a not-all-important Week 17 game, and is one of God knows how many minor maladies afflicting the team's key players. I think it's funny, so I hope to see more of it. It'll tire itself out as a story if Brady has a good game Sunday, and as we approach their divisional round game, I'm sure.

I'm hoping Brady ends up beating Brees out for the passing record and then gives a speech in the locker room at the end of which he declares his candidacy for the United States Senate.

Oh, and Pats by 17.

Belichick comments on Brady

This is gold

Reporter: Do you anticipate Tom being able to practice today?

Belichick: We'll list his status at the end of practice.

Reporter: What was he able to do yesterday?

Belichick: Play quarterback.

Reporter: So he did practice?

Belichick: He did, just the way we listed him [on the participation report as limited]. It's what we do after every practice.

Reporter: So he wasn't injured during the week? He was listed as not practicing Wednesday because of non-injury related reasons.

Belichick: I think we've covered that. I think we've already talked about that.

Reporter: So it was a planned day off?

Belichick: We've covered it. It's all been covered.

Reporter: Circling back to Brady, what is your level of confidence that he'll be able to play at a high level with this recent injury?

Belichick: Anybody we put out on the field, I have confidence in or we wouldn't put him out there. So if they're out there, we have confidence in him. If they're not out there, there is either another player ahead of him or we're not confident they can go out there and do it [health-wise]. It's as simple as that. We're not going to put anybody out there on the field that we don't have confidence in."

Reporter: What is your confidence level in Tom this week?

Belichick: If he's not out there, it won't be because we don't have confidence in him [from a playing perspective]. Whatever it is [injury-wise], we'll list it as accurately as we can based on the information we have, which is what we always do. Sometimes that information changes, obviously, and we'll do the best we can with the information we have, like we always do. It's no different than anything else."

Not like BB to give away information like that. Now Buffalo doesn't have to prepare for Tom Brady, free safety or Tom Brady, kick returner.

Keyshawn Jackson again is picking against the Pats. Is this some kind of running gag? Not that it actually matters. It's just kind of curios to this week after week.

Considering this defense has trouble holding a 31-3 lead, I imagine Brady will play the entire game.
