Rivers tells AP that Pierce is "doubtful" for opener vs. Knicks. "We'll know better on Saturday." Pavlovic likely to start in his place.

Pavlovic on Anthony? Oh man. Not good. Get Marquis or Bass in there against that killer frontcourt.
Pavlovic is painfully bad, and I'm not happy he is potentially our starting SF. At the same time, he is actually pretty decent as a 1 on 1 defender. Good size and relatively athletic.
I'm more worried about the fact that he is too bad at every other aspect of basketball to get playing time.

They have 2 starting shot-blockers and Rondo isn't exactly Steve Nash (as a shooter). Bibby is going to be given a Patriotic cushion.Bibby trying to guard Rondo is going to be just as ugly, NY's guard situation right now is a disaster.

I kinda miss there not being a season. This is gonna be ugly.
Then don't watch. This team has just as much of a shot than anyone else. People are giving the Celtics way to much grief. They played a better series against the Heat than the Bulls did. This Celtics team can do something this year and they won't be sulking like you are.

Having said that, I think he'll insist on being allowed to play.

In this regard, if Pavlovic's primary focus is to defend Anthony and stay out of the way offensively (weak side spot-ups without putting the ball on the floor) he may not hurt us in this one particular game. There will be more pressure on Rondo, Allen, KG and the bench to be assertive offensively but for one game there is hope. If Pierce is down for awhile and then other injuries begin to pile up this team is in trouble with Capital-T. I expect Quisy to play at least half the minutes at the 3 and certainly down the stretch if the game is close.
