Early Christmas/Chanukah/Kwanza gift, Habs in town the week of Christmas. Wonder what Price wants in his stocking?

Caron and Kampfer have both been recalled. I figured Caron would be up in the event Looch gets a Shannaban today.

Per Naoko, Kampfer and Caron have been recalled and are available.

@NaokoFunayama
Naoko Funayama
Bruins have recalled Kampfer and Caron from Providence. They will be available for tonight vs Canadiens if needed #NESN

With no Gomez, Gionta, Markov, White, and possibly no Moen, looks like the Habs will be rolling with:

Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Cammalleri - Plekanec - Kastsitsyn
Darche - Eller - Leblanc
Blunden/Palushaj - Nokelainen - Weber

Gorges - Subban
Gill - Diaz
Emelin - Kaberle

The prevailing opinion on how to go forward post-Martin/Gauthier on the Habs' HF is a batshit-insane xenophobic, über-separatist, borderline eugenicist strategy including "mining Quebec" for its best French speaking (and best English speaking!!!) players, hiring a francophone GM and coach, and burying Gomez in the minors. While the latter makes sense, everything else about it screams "how the fuck could anyone in their right mind support this organization on a moral/behavioral level?"

Because after all, the scary part is Cunneyworth is the first unilingual anglophone coach they've had since 1984 - and I don't know if they've ever had a unilingual anglophone GM in their history.

On HF? Which is 80% anglo teenagers from the West Island? I think you are overdoing it.

I have some thoughts later but I'll put them on the RMPS board, it's not really game thread worthy.

You guys are going to fuck us over tonight, though. I am not expecting anything.

You're right on the (vocal) minority on HF being francophones, I've had the displeasure of listening to some Team 990 this week as well so perhaps that skewed my evaluation of their presence of the Hockey's Future Boards. However, the posts that are one-liners or throwaways almost always recommend some obscure QMJHL or non-NHL francophone coach.

It would be a good topic of conversation though - I can't stand the bias, especially in this day and age. I mean, if Carlos Queiroz is Iran's soccer coach, surely even the separatists could be swayed into having an anglo coach if the opportunity presents itself.

Perhaps posts from guys like this simply stand out more

'Per interim' is a nice way to test the reaction and hopefully get everyone used to an English-only speaking coach by the end of the year, especially if the team experiences some success.

As for Gauthier's belief that languages can be taught this easily, that makes him the biggest fraud that every existed. If Cunneyworth was the initial plan and his French was important, they would have gotten him started on it while in the AHL.

To me, French for the coach is mandatory and not just a 'bonus asset' and quite frankly, I thought it was for the organization as well. I am severly disappointed and it puts the final nail the the coffin as far as my support for it is concerned.

I'd say our friend represents a disturbing proportion of Habs fans in Québec - and is one of the reasons I do not support the return of the Nordiques under Péladeau, as there would likely be the same separatist xenophobia that'd pervade the fan base.

There is a really good youtube video waiting to be made, Downfall-style, about the North Korean news reporter sobbing that the Habs have hired Cunneyworth and he doesn't speak French.

The biggest thing about the Habs right now is they aren't winning and their best homegrown player is David fucking Desharnais. If they were winning and had 6-7 Quebecois players with some stars, I don't think the backlash is anywhere near as high.

I don't think the backlash is anywhere near as high if it's Kirk Muller instead of generic Randy coach either.

I also don't think the backlash is anywhere near as high if the Habs didn't trade in being a Quebec institution with shitty movies and wheeling out their French greats like Cournoyer, Richard, Beliveau, Savard, etc. at every opportunity.

So a lot of this is their own fault and rightly so.

Good points all around. And I agree, the organization perpetuated it forever and, now that their stars since Damphousse have been Russian/Finnish/Ontarian/American, they don't really have an identity.

Subban has the flu - gametime decision
Habs lines at morning skate:

Cammalleri - Plekanec - Moen
Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Leblanc - Eller - Kastsitsyn
Darche - Nokelainen - Blunden

and no surprise, Price off the ice first

Yup. Money & Banking final tomorrow morning at 9 and I'm going to a bar to troll it with goyang & co and play some trivia. Looks like I'm waking up at 3 or 4 to cram.

The last exam I've taken that could be considered legit was the GRE Lit exam. It was a fucking beast and I was in the fucking 47th percentile. 47th! I might as well have an arrest on my record. Luckily I think schools don't give a shit about the GRE so much anymore, or at least they shouldn't because a one-off exam is just about the dumbest way to evaluate lit students.

Balls - Krejci - Horton
Marchand - Bergeron - Seguin
Caron - Kelly - Peverley
Paille - Campbell/Hamill - Thornton
