Yep, it's Tuesday. I'm treating the gamethread rules like Gronk treated the Redskin defense.

Stage 1: The Turnaround. Complete.
Stage 2: The Momentum Builder. Complete.
Stage 3: The Defensive Posture. Complete.
Stage 4: The Don't Overlook Game. Complete.
Stage 5: The Play 60 Minutes Game. Complete.
Stage 6: The Stop the Tebow Nonsense Game.

What's going on with this winning streak? Is it something spiritual? A higher power? Its really hard to explain because, well, luck is by definition inexplicable.

Whatever, the Broncos have a decent defense and play hard and never give up so I imagine their fans will stay until the end of this 34-14 blowout loss to the Pats.

Pats lead 17-7 at HT, the Broncos TD being their only drive with more than one first down.

Tom Brady leads a march down the field early in the third quarter for the 24-7 lead. The teams then trade field goals before, as always happens when leading late, the Patriot offense starts going three-and-out on every possession. Tebow drives for two TDs, the second with a minute left, but New England recovers the onside kick and we all exhale.

27-24, New England.

The Broncos wide receivers have to catch thirty kickoffs a game with the way Tebow throws the ball. Hopefully, they will fumble a few.

Brady passes to Gronk, Hernandez and Welker for 453 yards and 6 touchdowns, pulls Underwood's still beating heart from Tiquan's chest after Underwood fails to catch a pass that's 3 yards above Underwood's head two yards above Underwood's hightop fade, and then finishes the day by making makes Tebow watch and cry as Brady one-ups the old "dance on the Dallas star routine" and choses midfield, five minutes after the game as the time and place to have a rodeo ride of his own with unofficial Tebow girlfriend Lindsey Vonn.

Pats 43, Denver Tebows 2 (on an intentional safety by fifth string center julian edelman with time expiring).

Labeling a game between a team that is tied for the 2nd best record in football against a team with a 6 game winning streak that's leading its division "the battle of suck" seems a little harsh.

I wasn't referring to the whole contest as a battle of suck, just the matchup between Denver's sucky third-down offense and New England's sucky third-down defense. Certainly, there are many other things that both teams do well.

I see what you did here.

Tebow's fam is 5 minutes down the road. I'm a Gator fan. I appreciate the "nobody believes in him" story that is going on this season. I would therefore like to see him and his team only lose by 50 points. Something like 15-26 for 215 yards and a TD while losing 60-10 would do the trick. I think the score will actually end up something like 27-13, Patriots.

I'm really curious to see how the O-line holds up against Von Miller et al. That kid looks like he'll be a real stud for years to come.

Brady is 1-6 against Denver, that one team (and Miami) is Brady's kryptonite. I still do not trust this defense, I can see Tim Tebow destroying the defense by running the ball on those 2nd and 8's and 3rd and 4's. I expect a 35-21 kind of game.

Can't fumble a pass in which you never had possession.

And the ACLU would tell you that one of the goals of their work is "freedom of religion and belief is to guarantee that all are free to follow and practice their faith – or no faith at all – without governmental influence or interference."

8-17 all time in Denver

Six of the eight wins in Denver were from 1968 or earlier. The other two coming in 2000 and 2003. Denver has been the Patriots' personal house of horrors for about 40 years now; the only two Brady-era "highlights" being the Intentional Safety game in 2003 and the Ben Watson full field pursuit play during the 2005 playoff loss. Lets add the Tim Tebow Beaten So Unmercifully That He Coverts to Satanism game to the positive side of the ledger.

In terms of out of division games, the Broncos were the Colts before the Colts.

Pats-Denver played nine years in a row between 95 and 03, then twice in 05 and four more times since then, counting this week. They haven't gone two years in a row without playing Denver since 93-94. And they'll play again next year if both teams hold onto their division leads.

That one of the two highlights is a play that resulted in a TD for the Broncos is all you need to know about how things have gone in Denver.

If my memory is correct, Bledsoe lead the Pats to a grand total of one win in Denver and Elway did not play in that game. I don't believe the Patriots ever beat the Elway Broncos.

I need the Pats to win this Sunday. Win it for me, Patriots.

The Bledsoe-led win happened in the first year of Belichick's tenure and Elway's retirement, during the Brian Griese era. After the game Denver media folks talked up the notion that Belichick would make a good defensive coordinator after his inevitable firing. I guess that didn't work out.

BB is going to confuse the shit out of Tebow by "letting" him play with a lead the whole game. Then the Broncos will just run the same dive play 15 times in a row in the 4th, Brady will scramble into four consecutive roughing the passer penalties and we'll win on a Gronkowski TD in which he recovers a Brady fumble and actually punches the ball through Von Miller's chest cavity and over the goal line.

Patriots, 7-6

I believe that would be 1 and 5 if you count the vomit inducing playoff loss after the 2005 season. The first game removing the aura of Brady's Pats' invincibility.

And that one win? It was by the skin of our teeth in game that Jake Plummer didn't start and in which the victory came via a deliberate safety.

The weight of history is always underestimated -- anyone penciling in an automatic victory when the schedule comes out, at Denver or Miami, is blind.

This should be special because the Pats really need the game and because Brady has to be at least a little bit pissed over the Tebow talk. There are articles this week that actually compare the two.

Gronk jersey has arrived. I will be playing the Tebow drinking game on Sunday. There are 5 rules.

1. You must drink if the words "Tebow" and "win" are mentioned in the same sentence by the announcers.
2. You must drink if the announcers mention Tebow's lack of accuracy.
3. You must finish your beer if Tebow points to the sky.
4. You must finish your beer every time Tebow is referred to as a very i.e. "Tebowing" "Tebowed", etc.
5. Every time Tebow drops to his knee, everybody in the room must do the same. The last one to do so has to finish everybody else's beer.

Good times indeed.

I recently posted similar remarks from Joe Flacco (along with some snarky commentary on same) in the Broncos insanity thread. This also via PFT.com --

Packers tight end Jermichael Finley told Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that it is "kind of disturbing" to see the amount of time the media spends talking about Tebow. He thinks that more time should be spent on the season that Aaron Rodgers is having and he also thinks that the time is coming when Tebow will no longer be everybody's favorite player.

"He's telling everybody what they want to hear," Finley said. "You see him and he's patting everybody on the back saying, 'You're going to make this catch. I promise because God said,' and he makes it happen. Stuff like that. It confuses people. People that don't know the game outside of the fans, of course they're going to hype it up. But guys that see a good player and a good quarterback, they know what kind of guy he'll be down the road when he gets exposed. Everybody who knows the game knows what kind of player Tebow is going to be."

It figures, doesn't it, that the Pats fly into the eye of this hurricane just as it approaches category 5? Should be a fascinating game that may break regular season ratings records.
