That's why.
I thought they were getting the ball at the half yard line. Can't complain with the outcome though.

They're playing Sexy Rexy, no big worries. And it's in Fed ExSlater starting at Safety, Edelman at Nickel. What the fuck is happening in Foxboro.
Slater has more talent and pedigree in his left pinky than the retreads in there post-Chung

Question for saber-ish types: Obviously seven points are better than two, but is a safety plus getting the ball back with decent field position that much worse of a result than a TD (and the ball going back to the other team)? Obviously points are points, but with the safety you get some points, a chance for more points on the ensuing kick-off-punt, and time off the clock. I imagine the TD still wins out, but I wonder if the difference is really that great.
I'll point you to our first drive as to the reason why you want the TD rather than the safety. I know where you're going with it, but you take the TD and move on. It's not like the D got worn down from that drive.

Short story: safety worth 3.6 points, TD 6.3 points.

This is kind of the problem with saber style calculations in football to me. This question is very important based on who you're playing. If you're playing the Ravens or Steelers, you definitely want the points because they may not come again. If you're playing the Packers or Patriots, you may want the safety because you want to keep their offense of the field.

I can't believe that McCourty is the weak link in a secondary of UDFAs
And WRs.
