There eventually should be a good practical joke to play on Cubs fans from that.

When Bobby said it would be like Christmas morning for him if he got this job, he wasn't kidding. Seems like he's going to break down at any second.

He's not my favorite, but in his defense he's never had anything vaguely as talented a group to work with as what he's being handed here.

If Joe Torre managed the Pirates instead of the Yankees how many rings would he have? I'm not the biggest Bobby V fan, but that's such a silly argument.

With the wild card, the Red Sox cared about a win total and making the playoffs. Division titles were a goal, but not the overriding one. Division titles haven't meant as much as you're placing importance on them.

Better winning percentage than Terry Francona when he was hired in Boston.

What's silly is that there are folks here who think Bobby Valentine is what pushes the Red Sox over the hump and into WS winners.

While we are on the point of silly arguments, BV's career winning percentage is significantly higher(above .500) than was Francona's (below .500) when he was hired as Sox manager. Despite the 2003 implosion, Francona led the Sox to the promised land in 2004. The 2012 team has a chance to replicate the 2004 performance like a phoenix rising out of the ashes of the 2011 team. BV's upside is that he will manage like Dick Williams in the first couple of years after he took a new ML job. Worst case is that the Sox become latter day Mets with Luchino doing his best Steve Phillips impression. I'm betting on something closer to the best case scenario is what will happen.
