Giants' final drive:
1-10, NY 20 - Manning 19 to Cruz - he had tons of time to throw...Cruz makes a diving catch. Barrett is injured, which costs NE a timeout, giving the Giants a free stoppage (lucky bastards) - NE uses T.O. #2
1-10, NY 39 - Manning INC to Cruz
2-10, NY 39 - Manning INC to Cruz - NE uses T.O. #3
3-10, NY 39 - Manning 28 to Barrett - ridiculous, unbelievable catch, over-the-shoulder, going the other way, a catch that Aikman says this guy could play the rest of his career and never top that - friggin' A
1-10, NE 33 - Manning 12 run - longest run of the season for Eli - you gotta be kidding me - NY uses T.O. #2
1-10, NE 21 - Manning INC to Cruz - Pass Interference on Brown on a ball that's 10 yards away from Cruz, on a play where he isn't even *thinking* about trying to catch the ball - unbelievable
1-G, NE 1 - Manning INC to Ballard - good pressure, nice D
2-G, NE 1 - Jacobs no gain - another really good play by the D - NY uses T.O. #3
3-G, NE 1 - Manning 1 to Ballard, touchdown - somehow, on a play where there was NO way they would run the ball (with no timeouts left they wouldn't risk it), White bites on the play action...Eli throws off his back foot and Barrett makes another lunging/diving catch for the TD
So on this drive:
- The Giants get 3 great catches
- The Giants get a totally gift timeout by Barrett getting hurt
- The Giants get two timeouts used by NE
- The Giants get a PI call on a pass that isn't even remotely in the neighborhood of the receiver (yes there was contact - call it an illegal contact, 5-yarder...not a 20 yard PI penalty)
- The Giants get the longest run of the season by Eli Manning
Just an unbelievable sequence of events.
That run by Woodhead when he got twisted out of bounds really helped the Giants also. The clock stopped on that one.
