Looking forward to the first lesson in journalistic integrity from @HeidiWatney. She did write the definitive book on it, right?

My god, it just gets better.https://twitter.com/#!/HackswithHaggs/status/124235119975342080
Maybe my favorite part of Haggs's tweet is that we're not 24 hours removed from him having falsely reported that Krejci's knee was hurt. Granted, he got that from a source who was incorrect and has mea culpa'd and everything. But it's still great.

Everything about this just made me uncomfortable. Hilarious yes, but still cringe-inducing.
And who the hell asked Haggs?
Agreed. Haggs looks like an asshole here. Someone said on Twitter that "

The twitter lecture from Heidi about journalistic integrity was a little much for me...sometimes people -- myself included -- need to be called on their blaring hypocrisy. it's a free country on twitter. Nobody has to "ask" me just like nobody asked you.

They then said, if it is now kosher to bring up personal matters and relationships when talking about performance in public, then lets call up Henry's two ex-wives and see how that hindered his job as owner. At some point Varitek was talked about and Felger was killing him, and said something like, "speaking of ruined marriages, and being professional, it's now cool to talk about the Captain and a NESN employee, right?"
It was left at that until they then reported that it was Crawford that told Heidi, not Edes, to "go talk to the Captain." Felger brought it up because he apparently heard Merloni say it earlier in the day or something. At this point he then was like, "how was Tek's performance while tangled up in that whole mess, blah blah blah" At which point Heidi starts tweeting.
Felger acknowledges the tweet, then for the rest of the show only revisits the Henry / Tek marriages briefly, and cuts off the callers who start saying nasty Heidi comments.
Somewhere in here Haggs makes his comments, and those two have their back in forth.
I think 99% of the people on Twitter think that Felger just started his show by saying Heidi is a slut and that was the topic of the day.

Thanks for the recap. I only caught the last half hour of the F&M show and a caller brought up the initial tweet and I was wondering what happened.Felger and Mazz deduced that the owners were the ones that smeared Tito.

Hags reminds me of that chubby, frat kid who gets drunk and calls girls "ugly whores" at the party because he can't get laid. Sure he's fun for a beer pong game, but nobody wants to really hang out with the guy in public. After all, he is the guy who bragged that his proudest moment in life was watching his then fiancee do her first keg stand with him last year.
That said, I like his Bruins coverage.
I'd hang out with Haggs in public. Keg stands are cool, man. You're fucking crazy.

Sure keg stands are cool. So isn't going to work high at the go kart track and banging your friend's younger sister. But when you're in your mid thirties and your "proudest moment", is watching your wife do keg stands you may want to re-evaluate things. That's just me. As for hanging out with Haggs, the guy tries waaaay too hard in my opinion. He clearly wasn't one of the cool kids growing up.I'd hang out with Haggs in public. Keg stands are cool, man. It was a joke, debbie downer. If you really think that was my proudest moment then you're dumber than you sound. I'm amazed that you memorize what I said on the radio two years ago. Sounds like you're trying a little too hard, actually, now that I think about it.

Btw, I'm pretty sure I saw you talking about the kegs stands on CSNNE and I obviously knew you were joking. My point still stands though. I think jumping on the Heidi out of the blue appeared rather small and unnecessary.

Hey, I do think you're the best media guy covering the B's - far and away. And that's partially why I believe you're above some of that Heidi bashing. Too easy and unnecessary, that's all. That garbage should be left to talk radio, shit stirers like Felger and messagebaord trolls and like me. Agree to disagree, Haggs.Entitled to your opinion, of course, and I appreciate the Debbie Downer signature...LOL. Glad you like the B's coverage.

He did not. He reported the statement, but did not say it was to him (he didn't specify):I'm so confused. Why did Edes claim it was he who Crawford was speaking to, and now it's coming out that it was actually Heidi?
In hindsight, Edes had to know that Crawford's statement was partially based on the Varitek / Watney relationship. He reported it as an oddity, but it's an oddity that makes way more sense knowing the full context (which Edes wouldn't reveal). He probably shouldn't have said anything. Was he speaking directly to me? Not the "captain" line. I was standing just a few feet in front of him, but he said it in response to something said by another reporter. I don't know exactly what the reporter said, but I knew it was in the context of asking Crawford to talk.

As far as his Red Sox coverage goes, I learned everything I needed to know back last December when he was "killing" Theo after (false) reports that the Adrian Gonzalez trade had fallen through. There was a Teixeira failure comment in there as well. Literally just parroting Tony Mazz' main talking point of the past 2 years - a talking point, I might add, that involves no critical thinking whatsoever. And now he's seemingly defending a Michael Felger talking point by going directly after Heidi Watney on twitter? It's pretty amazing.
Sports journalists have honestly been such an interesting social phenomenon to observe from a far since the inception of twitter. The lack of any semblance of self-awareness is utterly fascinating. It would likely make for a pretty interesting thread in itself. Journalists like Jon Heyman, and Peter King - to name a few national guys - as well as a few local types (Joe Haggerty, Pete Abe, etc) tweet without ever really thinking how they might come off to the public. Haggerty, for one, is routinely retweeting people who compliment him.
Frankly, if this was about journalistic integrity (and it's not), we'd see far more critical thinking going with the likes of Felger and Mazz - and by extension, Joe Haggerty. But frankly, discussing the fact that Jonathan Papelbon had a higher whiff rate on his splitter to LHH in 2010 than in 2011 just doesn't make for a very interesting talking points. Instead of finding a nice middle ground of critical thinking and entertainment value, we get people going after Heidi Watney on twitter.
It's a farce.

It wasn't a very good keg stand, so I'm fairly sure that didn't even make the top 10 proudest moments.
