Mike Stoops fired. 41-50, but also three straight bowl trips. This year's team is 1-5, but really young on offensive line and on defense.
The article mentions Mike Leach, who'd probably be a great fit there. (FWIW, Arizona isn't an Under Armour school)

Bob Toledo out at Tulane.
http://espn.go.com/c...-toledo-resigns
The Tulane program is at a crossroads. They no longer play LSU, they average about 20,000 fans at the Superdome and there was serious talk of dropping football after Katrina. It is one of the few D1 programs out there that has the dubious distinction of having an all time program winning percentage of under .500 (a losing lifetime program). The school has made some serious missteps in its football operations over the years. Against the advice of alumni and people in the know at the time, they left the SEC. Later on, they tore down Tulane Stadium and moved into the Superdome downtown. In other words they moved not just LSU and Alabama games to downtown, they moved games against the likes of UL-Lafayette to the Superdome. It is a horrible venue for them. The other recommendation was to downsize the on campus stadium ( site of Super Bowl IV) from 70,000 to 40,000 and stay on campus. The then administrators thought it would be better for recruitng and exposure to play in the Superdome...wrong again.
Tulane is a good program to look at when you are thinking about what a D1 non BCS program might become, or in Tulane's case, is. There was talk of perhpas even dropping the program down to FCS status and joining something like the Southern Conference and playing the likes of Coastal Carolina, Gardner Webb and Florida A&M, Elon, et al. In some respects it is sad. But as the mega conferences form and other D1 programs get left at the door, more prgrams will end up like Tulane....irrelevant and teetering on the brink of extinction.

God bless him. That program has miles to go to become relevant.

It's just a rumor at this point. Nothing to see here yet. Not saying it won't happen, but nothing is official and no one else credible has reported it.CNN reporting...

The link is still live, but CNN just changed the banner to read, "Report: OSU planning to hire Urban Meyer", so yea, nothing official...
I plan to try to fuck all of Justin Timberlakes ex-girlfriends, I'll let you guys know how that goes.

Would think Meyer would want to see what sanctions come down before making any decisions

Despite his glaring failures on the field, I don't really harbor any ill will towards him. He was a risky hire, and unfortunately, he failed. We're good now. Coach Rod always seemed like a good guy, and I'm glad he landed on his feet. The Pac 12 is a good fit for him where there are a lot of high powered defenses. He is an offensive guru. Obviously, if he wants to compete with the likes of USC, Oregon, and Stanford, he needs to have a good defensive coordinator.BFeldmanCBS Bruce Feldman Expect Rich Rodriguez to be named the next Arizona head coach in the next 48 hours according to sources.
BFeldmanCBS Bruce Feldman
Expect RichRod to be rejoined at Arizona by many of his former staffers from WVU and Michigan... The Pac-12 just got tougher.
BFeldmanCBS Bruce Feldman
RichRod walked into a shaky situation in Ann Arbor but remember he led WVU to 3 top 12 finishes in his last 3 yrs at WVU.

I'll echo this. I'm thankful that RR is no longer the coach at UM, but I hope he does well at Arizona and wish him the best of luck. It really would've been fun to see what RR could've done if he had the full support of the UM football family and the benefits that go along with it.

I do. We had 40 years of extraordinary success here, and all he cared about was his own ego. He refused to coach what he had on the roster, which was pretty damned good at the time. He refused to put any effort into the defense, and it takes both offense and defense to win at the major college level.
I feel bad for Wildcat fans. They don't deserve this.

I disagree and submit the following videos from a quick YouTube search that documents how UofA fans are bad people and do in fact deserve this.
I will likely be back in the near future to post about Dennis Erickson's...well,,,,ummm....retirement of sorts.

I'm not going to be surprised if Rich Rod turns Arizona into a contending program in the Pac 12. I don't think highly of the Pac 12 to begin with, and I think it's a good conference for him to have his offense to star in. May be we'll see Michigan-Arizona Rose Bowl in a few years. That'll be cool.

Yeah, ASU is much better. they confine their classless BS to the field.
There is so much wrong with this statement that I hardly know where to start. I think I'm going to start with the fact that the date of this hit fell in between the time the star running back Loren Wade shot and killed an ex-teammate and ASU cheerleader was investigated for performing in adult films in her school issued uniform.
I'd also like to point out that while that hit was definitely early, the halo rule had been removed a few years prior, Jackson had already taken a punt to the house earlier in the game and Justin Tryon was not renowned for his field awareness. While the hit looked vicious, I hardly find it classless.
Man that game sucked - I watched that game at Prankster's 2 in Old Town Scottsdale after the Georgia vs Colorado game, where Joe Cox came in for a young, ineffective Matt Stafford and scored 14 fourth quarter points to give the Dawgs a 1 point lead. Then watched that crap show where Rudy Carpenter 4 interceptions - 2 taken to the house. After the last INT, I threw my phone in the pitcher of beer, which did not impress my female companion.
Wait...what are we talking about again? Oh yes, so I'm still confused how someone allegedly hitting another player a half second early is classless given the evidence and pales in comparison foreign objects being thrown at unsuspecting people. Also the ASU players received punishments, while the UofA people seemed to walk away without retribution... I mean ASU didn't even let Wade practice with his teammates while they were investigating the alleged murder.

Sources close to Mississippi State University's program have said that football coach Dan Mullen is close to signing a deal to replace Joe Paterno at Penn State.

Also not confirmed but he apparently told an assistant he should be ready to apply for the Miss St job.

There are definitely strong rumors that it's a good possibility and Sumlin is ASU's #1 choice, but UCLA and A&M could be in the mix as well, and Sumlin isn't talking to anyone directly as he prepares for the game this weekend.
I'm hopeful ASU strikes fast and gets it done, but am trying to prepare myself just in case.
Edit - Reason for my question is mainly because I haven't seen any stories by a major outlet, but am aware of the happenings.

I also think if Fedora goes anywhere, it's A&M. Sherman should be fired for such an underachieving season.

I'm told Mack Brown doesn't plan to retire any time soon.

I'm told Mike Sherman - and his $8 million buyout - will be back at Texas A&M next season.

I don't know when Mack is going to retire, but I'm pretty sure some random guy from Kansas is not going to have the scoop.Mack Brown retiring this weekend? I don't buy this at all. And if so, this is by far the biggest opening in years. Please be false.
