I could hardly contain myself.

My family and I were finally getting into our grey Plymouth Reliant to start out on our family vacation. This was not to be some mamby pamby vacation mind you. We would set out from Westford, MA and not stop driving west until reaching British Columbia. Dad had set aside an entire month and his razors. Family tradition stated that full blown facial hair was required for all outdoor vacations. So with camping geat in the trunk, clothes in the travel case on the roof, and my pillow and blanket in the backseat (yes, I was an only child), we set out before the sun rose.

Our first stop was going to be in the Buffalo area to see, what else, Niagara Falls. I had always wanted to visit since seeing Superman save that stupid little boy. Niagara Falls was not just a destination but a commencement as well. It marked the true beginning of the coolest vacation ever. As we arrived in town my level of excitement increased. I instinctively rolled down my window listening for the smoke that thunders. We turned that last corner to cross the bridge to the Canadian side. And then it hit me. Unfettered, unabashed disappointment.

"Dad, is that it???"

"What do you mean? It's NIAGARA FALLS!!"

I just expected more. My biggest disappointment was in finding out that the American side was smaller, dirtier, and more expensive. I could just feel the Canadians around me beaming with pride and smugly thinking how much better they thought they were because of a dumb waterfall. The vacation went on to be spectacular but it began with hope and expectation that ultimately was not met.

Oh yes, I sense another allegory.

This Bills squad has started this season in impressive fashion. Who had Fitzpatrick leading the offensive poy category after the first two games? But really now, does anyone expect the season to continue like this? All of the hoopla in Buff-town will eventually go away when everyone gets the chance to see who this team really is. High hope and excitement now will only lead to disappointment later.
So good for you Bills! Look at what you've been able to accomplish! Look at your nice new, old uniforms! You guys dress like a real live NFL team!!! Good for you Buffalo fans! It's been a long time since you've been able to be proud of what your team has accomplished!

Now shut up and squeal like a pig, boy.

Ultimately you really can't expect a magical run. Why not just end the hope early so you can settle in for the season? You've had your fun. Now please get out the way. Thank you.

Does this mean we can do a Wu Tang theme?

The ruckus will be brought.

Also, bravo to the NFL, I would MUCH rather watch infomercials on CBS than the actual game.

I'm taking my talents to Orchard Park this weekend. Hopefully its a repeat of the last game I attended there in 2007 which was 56-10.

RapSheet

Patriots TE Dan Gronkowsk was not on the Injury Report. I believe that means his roster spot is gone. Look for a move tomorrow

So, do we know what's up with Mesko yet? It's Saturday and we didn't sign a new punter so I'm assuming he's good?

Wrong.

Pedro's Hairstylist is guilty of mental hijack. I'm the victim here. Don't lose sight of that.

No Chung, Haynesworth, Hernandez, Vollmer, Koppen. And Mesko sounds like he's still TBD.

Did the Pats have any games last year with 5 starters out (and sure I'll give you Bodden who was out all year)?

I'm not sure I'd consider Haynesworth a "starter" - more like a member of the d-line rotation at this point.

That being said, I'd love to have all those guys in. And I think that all of them but Koppen would be playing if it were the playoffs.

Getting ready to leave for Ralph Wilson Stadium within and hour and a half. Hoping Brady can overcome all the injuries we have. I'm expecting this crowd to be pretty loud today.

When I pre-set the Pats game to record today on DirecTV station 206 a little dollar sign showed up. DirecTV customers, any idea why?

I don't like the way this game is shaping up with all the Pats' injuries. I think they will win in a shootout, but if the offense stagnates going from the 2 TE to 3-4 WR, this could get ugly. Maybe this is the game that they run the shit out of the ball, but it doesn't seem likely with only 1 active TE.

I'm pretty skeptical on Fitzpatrick, but yeah, maybe.

It's amazing how much press he's getting.

I also have a bad feeling about today but I suspect that is tied in with the Sox.

Could be a really ugly day for New England sports.

Dowling being out is going to hurt us, hopefully he can get back soon. It's going to be a shootout is my best guess. Ryan Fitz has had 2 solid games to start out the season, we can't sleep on Buffalo today.
