I'll let you know if we lose this goddamn game.

Cmon you dickweeds, this is my great grandfather's birthday. He died on Opening Day in 2004 at the ripe old age of 99. He is the reason I like baseball because I used to sit and watch the games with him when my mom was at work (well, I'd watch, he'd listen on his transistor radio since he was pretty much totally blind by the time I was born). Don't piss me off and lose on my name sake's birthday.

Just win. Don't give a shit how. Just do it.

I remember my best friend's dad drinking Gansett long-necks by the case watching the Sox in the 60's. I also remember the '67 Sox pulling of some marvelous victories. Let's have one of those today.

Just read "Soldier's Home" by Hemingway. He was a man who would not lose. And he would not bitch. He would knock you out (or shoot you).

"Man is not made for defeat." Listen to Hemingway. He could also out drink all of SoSH combined. Hemingway's a five tool bad ass.

Youkilis won't be in the lineup tonight. Lowrie is 1-14 lifetime vs Shields. Gotta go with Aviles at 3rd base. No bullshit, Tito.

The sentiment would go over better if you could have found a pic of Hemmingway where he wasn't holding a shotgun.

I think it fits kind of well. Play good ball and finish of these Rays. If not, it's death by your own hand. It would be most disappointing if they ended like Hemingway.

As a response to Sprowls' tribute to Mr. Steve Irwin last night, I went trolling for an ANGRY Steve Irwin pic. No dice, my friends. That guy was the happiest guy on Earth. However, for some reason, on about page 8 of Irwin pics, this young lass appeared. Her name is Jennifer Hawkins, so do it for her.

Glad not to see Youk tonight, and I'm skeptical about his contribution for the rest of the season, esp. vs. RH pitching. Expecting little from Aviles, but at least it won't be a guaranteed 0-for... The Sox need to seriously do everything to win this game. Might well be their best chance in this series.

I'm feeling good about tonight. All it takes is one good win it halt the head of the steam the Rays have. Beckett has owned the Rays this season. Let's put this thing back to 4 games today and 5 tomorrow and squash this ridiculous slump. If ever there was a pitcher to sack up when needed, its Josh MFing Beckett.

So you're saying the Sox should move to Idaho and shoot themselves? And I thought I was depressed!

No, the Boston Red Sox are intending to win at least two out of three in this series, and I endorse this effort and expect to applaud its completion.

No shotguns necessary.

No more exotic West African cuisine before Sox games -- that's now engraved in my concrete front porch

JFB is starting tonight, which means I need to get the 50 hot wings special with Blue Cheese dressing and Taco Doritos

There isn't enough sarsaparilla in the DC Metro Region to wash it all down ... might need to resort to chocolate milk

Well, this is it for the Sox. The playoffs will probably rest on these next two games. There are NO injury excuses. The Sox have their two best pitchers, and the offense is almost 100% healthy. This is as good of a team as the Sox can put on the field.

If ever there was a need for reverse lock it's tonight. The lineup is thin and two of the best pitchers "on paper" face each other on the hill. Runs will be at a premium tonight for both teams providing Josh can hang in there. Worried but not panicked. Let's go men, defeat is not an option!

That's not a reverse lock. A reverse lock would be Shields vs. Weiland. Beckett wasn't out for six months.

But, the sox offense is going to have to show up. I am hopeful for a good start from Beckett, but I don't think we can win 1-0

I'm not panicked. A win tonight with Beckett will make a lot of us feel a lot better. But if they lose tonight, the panic meter rises several notches.

So what do you say, boys.... let's just pummel Tampa tonight and save us all a heart attack. Ok?

We'll be fine so long as the home run JFB gives up right around pitch #75 is a solo shot and only serves to piss him off enough to CG the MFer with no additional runs scored

They just need to get back into that one pitch, one batter, one inning at a time mentality.
