Cmon you dickweeds, this is my great grandfather's birthday. He died on Opening Day in 2004 at the ripe old age of 99. He is the reason I like baseball because I used to sit and watch the games with him when my mom was at work (well, I'd watch, he'd listen on his transistor radio since he was pretty much totally blind by the time I was born). Don't piss me off and lose on my name sake's birthday.

"Man is not made for defeat." Listen to Hemingway. He could also out drink all of SoSH combined. Hemingway's a five tool bad ass.

How many beers does it take before pounding your scrotum with a hammer isn't painful?
I had two Lowenbraus and an Anchor Steam and whaled on my nuts with this. Not that bad, actually.

Come on, Sox. Cut the fuck of crap already. You're ...

"Man can be destroyed but not defeated." You hear that Tito? Use Papelbon for as many goddamn innings as it takes to win the fucking ballgame.

Just read "Soldier's Home" by Hemingway. He was a man who would not lose. And he would not bitch. He would knock you out (or shoot you).

The sentiment would go over better if you could have found a pic of Hemmingway where he wasn't holding a shotgun.

I think it fits kind of well. Play good ball and finish of these Rays. If not, it's death by your own hand. It would be most disappointing if they ended like Hemingway. The sentiment would go over better if you could have found a pic of Hemmingway where he wasn't holding a shotgun.

Youkilis won't be in the lineup tonight. Lowrie is 1-14 lifetime vs Shields. Gotta go with Aviles at 3rd base. No bullshit, Tito.
several people on twitter already reporting lowrie is out for tomorrow, so its aviles by default anyway

Glad not to see Youk tonight, and I'm skeptical about his contribution for the rest of the season, esp. vs. RH pitching. Expecting little from Aviles, but at least it won't be a guaranteed 0-for... The Sox need to seriously do everything to win this game. Might well be their best chance in this series.

Nothing like an ice cold 'Gansett to wash down the irony. Or the iron, as the case may be.

So you're saying the Sox should move to Idaho and shoot themselves? And I thought I was depressed!Just read "Soldier's Home" by Hemingway. He was a man who would not lose. And he would not bitch. He would knock you out (or shoot you).

No, the Boston Red Sox are intending to win at least two out of three in this series, and I endorse this effort and expect to applaud its completion.
No shotguns necessary.

I don't want to see any defeatist bullshit in this thread. Everyone needs to sack the fuck up.
Just win. Don't give a shit how. Just do it.
They have a starter going who, as far as we know, does not suck. It's been a while.

JFB is starting tonight, which means I need to get the 50 hot wings special with Blue Cheese dressing and Taco Doritos
There isn't enough sarsaparilla in the DC Metro Region to wash it all down ... might need to resort to chocolate milk
WIN!

If ever there was a need for reverse lock it's tonight. The lineup is thin and two of the best pitchers "on paper" face each other on the hill. Runs will be at a premium tonight for both teams providing Josh can hang in there. Worried but not panicked. Let's go men, defeat is not an option!
That's not a reverse lock. A reverse lock would be Shields vs. Weiland. Beckett wasn't out for six months.
But, the sox offense is going to have to show up. I am hopeful for a good start from Beckett, but I don't think we can win 1-0

Tonight we wrap Shield's balls around the Pesky Pole using every inch of Fenway for the win.
Go Sox.
They just need to get back into that one pitch, one batter, one inning at a time mentality.
